ST.BARTHOLOMEW’S CHURCH

On Sunday 30th September at the local church the service will be “Congregation Favourites”. Please come along and join in.

The service starts at 9:30am and everyone is welcome.

NEW BEAT MANAGER

Will residents please note that a new Beat Manager has been appointed to the area and replaces the former incumbent PC 3258 Jason Fellowes who moves on to pastures new.

PC Gareth Mitchell (PC3467) is the new Beat Manager for East Bassetlaw Rural Safer Neighbourhoods and can be contacted by mobile 07976 173 926 or by email: garethmitchell@nottinghamshire.pnn.police.uk. The new beat manager will be supported by our regular PCSO Lucy Campion who has now become a familiar face in the area. Please say hello to the new officer and welcome him to the village.

SUTTON GARDENING CLUB

The next meeting of the Gardening Club will take place on Tuesday 2nd October at 7:15pm in Barnby Moor Village Hall. The speaker on this occasion will be Patrick Harding who will address the members on The Medicinal Use of Plants.

GARDENING CLUB UPDATE

After a very successful club outing to a local garden centre, the group have launched details of a grand Christmas Raffle. It may be early but with the great prizes on offer it is certain to attract a lot of attention! Among the many prizes listed are:

  • Afternoon Tea at the Imperial Tearooms Retford
  • Kettlewells Coaches voucher
  • Meat Voucher from Sutton Galloways
  • Voucher from Fifth Avenue (Retford)

MEET THE NEIGHBOURS

The neighbours group met in the Village Hall on Wednesday 12th September at the usual time of 1:15pm to join their peers in a communal lunch. A group of 40 diners attended the event and were treated to an excellent meal of Cottage Pie and seasonal vegetables cooked by local chef Nigel Bower. This was followed by a fruit crumble and lashings of custard. Tea and coffee was served as diners tried their hand at a short quiz. The usual raffle then took place with loads of prizes on offer on the day. People left the event feeling happy after being generously fed and watered.

REGULARS

YOUTH CLUB: The Youth Club continues to meet on a Tuesday night from 7:30 to 8:30 in the Village Hall and new members are welcome.

KEEP FIT CLASSES: Keep fit classes continue in the Village Hall every Thursday evening from 6:30pm to 7:30pm. All fitness levels welcome! Further details available on 07549 244 379.

COMPUTER CLUB: Computer sessions continue at the Village Hall on Mondays from 1:00pm to 3:00pm at a cost of £5.00 person. Reserve a place by emailing: Lesley.parks@hotmail.co.uk or call (01777) 707 153 or 07929 352 753.

MEET THE NEIGHBOURS: The group continue to meet at Sutton Village Hall on the second Wednesday of each month for a communal lunch. Further details about the group and its activities are available from group leader Joan Reiter on (01777) 702 137.

SUTTON APRIL CLUB: The April club continue to meet every two weeks in the village and full details are available from Group Leader and organiser Carole Head on (01777) 705 077.
