Garden Waste Collection Scheme 2019

Just a reminder that, due to the snowfall during our first week of collections in February when we had to suspend the service, there will be an extra collection this year in December. Therefore, your last collection for the 2018 season will be on 10th December 2018. This collection is not shown on your calendar.

You can renew for the 2019 season from 26th November 2018, the price remaining at £30.00 for each bin.

To keep enjoying the benefits of the service, please renew by 31st January 2019 in order that you receive your licence sticker in time for the first collections at the end of February/beginning of March. The 2019 licence sticker must be displayed on your bin otherwise it will not be emptied.

Online is the quickest and easiest way to renew your subscription by going to:  http://www.bassetlaw.gov.uk/rubbish-and-recycling/garden-waste-collection-scheme/ and clicking on Garden Waste Subscription Season 2019 (this will be available from the 26th November 2018).

However, you can re-subscribe, order additional bins and pay in the following way: –

By phone – please call our team on 01909 533 533, ask for Environment Services, press 1 for Garden Waste.

Once your subscription has been renewed licence stickers, terms and conditions, calendars with your collection dates and further information will be sent out in the post after 31st January 2019. Please contact us if you have not received your pack by the end of February 2019.

If you no longer require the service or have any queries please contact us on 01909 533533, ask for Environment Services, then press 1 for Garden Waste – Monday to Friday 8.40am to 5.00pm or email us at environment.services@bassetlaw.gov.uk.

What the scheme gives you

Our Garden Waste Collection Service allows Bassetlaw residents to recycle even more of their waste and is available for just £30 per season.

Collections take place every two-weeks between the beginning of March and the middle of December and your fee includes an additional 240 litre wheelie bin.

You can use your Brown Bin to recycle grass cuttings, hedge trimmings, leaves, small branches and twigs, dead plants, weeds and cut flowers.

Please do not put plastic bin liners in with your garden waste as these cannot be recycled and your bin will not be collected.

During 2017 almost 6,500 Bassetlaw residents subscribed to the service, which generated 2,177 tonnes of garden waste and helped to prevent a large proportion of waste being sent for incineration as part of the domestic waste collection.

If you would like to recycle your garden waste but do not want to receive this service, you can buy a home composter at a reduced price by visiting the home composting website.

The Garden Waste Collection Service is for DOMESTIC properties only.  If you are a business and require your trade waste to be collected, please contact our Environment Services Department on 01909 535146.
