ST. BARTHOLOMEW’S CHURCH

The service on Sunday 1st December is Advent Sunday and an Advent Carol service will take place at the usual time of 9:15am. Everybody welcome!

MOBILE LIBRARY VAN

Please note that the library van will visit the village on Monday 2nd December 2019 stopping at the usual places:

  1. Sutton Lane / North Road crossroads at 9:40am
  2. 22 Station Road at 10:00am
  3. 46 Station Road at 10:10am
  4. Town Street at 10:25am
  5. Portland Meadows at 10:45am
  6. Portland Place (garages) at 10:55am

GARDENING CLUB

December will see members of the gardening club making a Christmas flower arrangement at their next meeting to be held on Tuesday 3rd December in Barnby Moor village hall. Further details about garden club and its activities please contact Jenny Bailey (01777) 708 155. New members and visitors are always welcome.

PARISH COUNCIL MEETING

Please note: the next meeting of the council will be a week earlier than usual (in order to avoid prior engagements in run the up to the Christmas)  and will now take place on Wednesday 4th December at the usual time of 7:00pm.

PARISH LUNCHES

The next Parish Lunch (Christmas Lunch) will be held at the local hostelry on Tuesday 10th December at the usual time of 12:00noon.

CHURCH SERVICE

At the local church on Sunday 24th November the service was “Worship for all” the service was conducted on this occasion by Worship Leader Janet Webb. Readings from the gospel were performed by Fiona Pagdin. Intercession: Janet Webb. Organist: Geof Webb.

SUTTON AND BARNBY MOOR W.I.

The ladies met on Wednesday 20th November in Sutton Village Hall at the usual time of 7:15pm and a report will follow. For further details about the W.I. please contact Secretary Fiona Padgin on (01777) 703 532.

MEET THE NEIGHBOURS

A bigger turnout than usual when the Neighbours group met in the Village Hall on Wednesday 20th November at 1:00pm.   One again local chef and caterer Nigel Bower provided an excellent meal for the gathering. No quiz on this occasion but the usual raffle with free banter thrown in for good measure was conducted by draw master Fred Payne and the group after a very enjoyable meal socialized for the rest of the afternoon.

NOVEMBER PARISH LUNCH

The Parish Lunch for November took place on Tuesday 19th at the Gate Inn at 12:00noon. A group of 12 diners joined their peers for an excellent lunch in a tastefully decorated venue prepared to get everybody in the festive mood. The next Parish Lunch (Christmas Lunch) will be held at the local hostelry on Tuesday 10th December at the usual time of 12:00noon.

QUIZ NIGHT

The quiz continues to take place in the Village Hall every Sunday night, £1.00 entry per person which is paid back as prize money! The bigger the crowd – the bigger the prize! New contestants always welcome. Following the quiz “Play your cards right” – Cash Prize! Can you beat the local teams? Come along and try. 8:00pm start and bar open.

We also have the Sutton Spotlight, which goes out to every house in the village on a quarterly (ish) basis. Space is sometimes limited, so try to get your entry in early.

We’re also lucky to have a village Journalist who collates news and updates for the Retford Times on a weekly basis. Get your copy in on Monday morning for the Thursday issue.

All our website updates are also sent down the village “X formerly Twitter” feed, @SuttonCumLound. So, follow us there for these and other items in and around our area.
