NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH: The local association report the following:

ALERT: 20/12/2019. Yet another Amazon Prime Scam

A member of the Neighbourhood Watch reports taking a cold call from what was ostensibly Amazon. The member was asked to “Press 1” to prevent £39 being deducted from their Amazon account. Clearly this was a scam, but please beware. The Amazon scams are getting more common and plausible, an indication that the scammers are making good money from this try on.

ALERT: 23/12/2019 URGENT: Safety Warning Regarding Dangerous Toy Dolls

Nottinghamshire County Council Trading Standards have been made aware that some dolls described as “Sweet Fashion Doll” and “Girl Beautiful Doll” are being sold in the Nottingham area. They have been found to contain high levels of a dangerous chemical called “phthalates.” Phthalates can harm the health of children, causing possible damage to the reproductive system.

We would urge anybody that has purchased a “Sweet Fashion Doll” or “Girl Beautiful Doll” not to use them and to return them to the retailer that they purchased them from.

To report information about these dolls or for consumer advice please contact the Citizens Advice Consumer Service on 03454 04 05 06.

MEET THE NEIGHBOURS: On a sad note it has been announced that founder member and organizer of the Meet the Neighbours Group, Joan Reiter has decide to step down from the post as leader after 20 years of dedicated service to the group and the village as a whole. The group will continue as before, in the capable hands of Margaret Boreham and Brian Seddon’s. It is hoped that residents will offer the same degree of support to the new leaders,( who are no strangers to the group) and allow the event to flourish as before. Joan will hopefully be popping in on odd occasions as time allows to socialise with old friends. Well done Joan!

QUIZ NIGHT: The quiz continues to take place in the Village Hall every Sunday night, £1.00 entry per person which is paid back as prize money! The bigger the crowd – the bigger the prize!
