Following retirement, Sutton cum Lound Parish Council is seeking to appoint a Clerk and Responsible Financial Officer.
The Parish Council is seeking to appoint a new Clerk who can manage the Council’s statutory obligations, organise and record the Council’s activities.
The Clerk to the Parish Council will be the Proper Officer of the Council and as such is under a statutory duty to carry out all the functions of this role.
The Clerk is also the Responsible Financial Officer and responsible for all financial records of the Council.
The Clerk is not required to live in the Parish but will need to attend the meetings held in the Parish, usually on the second Wednesday of the month and the Clerk may also be required to represent the Parish Council at local authority and partner meetings.
The role would ideally suit a candidate from a sound administrative and accountancy background, and previous knowledge of local goverment administration would be an advantage, although not essential. The applicant should hold the Certificate in Local Council Administration (CiCLA) or be prepared to obtain it within 12 months of commencement. The Parish Council will arrange any in-service training considered appropriate.
Hours: Average 7 hours per week flexible (some evening work required).
Pay: In accordance with NALC recommended National Pay Scales for Clerks and based upon experience.
