LETTER TO OVER 70s
We have written to households containing an Over 70 to provide details of local support through Bassetlaw District Council /Bassetlaw Community & Voluntary Service and the Notts Hub.

The District Council’s Customer Services team have been providing weekend cover (09:00 – 5:00pm) and this will continue. If there are any concerns about vulnerable person requiring food or other assistance.

If any individual is requiring specific Social Care /Safeguarding support then Nottinghamshire County Council can be contacted on 0300 500 8080. They are open Saturday 9am -1pm.
FOOD PARCEL DISTRIBUTION
The Council are working jointly with the BCVS to provide assistance with Food and Prescription delivery. The Bassetlaw Food bank had to suspend their service and were in agreement with the arrangement put in place. We are starting to see individuals beyond the “shielded” group who are needing support e.g. the new Universal Credit claimants.

SCAMS
Regrettably there is always somebody who thinks they can exploit people and I want you all to know about this scam e-mail so you can help people if they contact you.
- These claim an individual is due a Council Tax Reduction.
- It asks them to provide card/bank details.
- They utilise a GOV.UK logo.
Bonfires
(Covid-19) can cause significant respiratory problems for people who contract the illness. This means that people managing their symptoms at home may need to have their windows open to help improve their breathing. This includes vulnerable people such as asthmatics, people with bronchitis and the elderly. Smoke coming from bonfires for We are asking residents not to burn garden waste or other materials during the lockdown.
Coronavirus these people at this time is likely to have a bigger impact on their health.
Smoke and the smell from bonfires are regular complaints that the council receive. However, we are seeing a significant increase in these complaints at the moment. We are asking our residents to please consider their neighbours as more people will be wanting to enjoy their gardens during these unusual times as well as being able to open their windows and hang washing out.
