SCAM ALERT
Scammer Takes £6,000 from Misterton Resident
This scam involves an individual posing as a “fraud detective” who is supposedly investigating a banking fraud inflicted upon the victim by the victim’s bank. The victim was initially contacted by phone and advised that a fraudulent transaction had occurred on their bank account. The victim was asked not to contact the bank for fear of tipping off the perpetrators (the bank personnel) and to withdraw a certain sum of money. That sum of money would be removed temporarily from the account (collected in person by the scammer) and then paid back into the victim’s bank account (plus a fee for the transaction/going to the bank etc.).
In the event the approach was convincing enough for the lady victim to provide, and to lose, £6,000.
ALLOTMENTS
The Parish Council is again looking into the opportunities available to provide allotments within Sutton cum Lound and is about to embark on approaching local landowners for any available land. As part of this process we will be reviewing our list of people who have previously expressed an interest in having an allotment.
If you are interested in an allotment plot then please contact Claire Challener, the Parish Clerk by 30 November 2020:
Email: clerk@suttoncumlound.net
or by post to:
Grove Farm,
101 Town Street,
Lound
Please note that we are in the initial stages of this project and that this interest will not entitle anyone to an allotment should land become available.
CORONAVIRUS UPDATE
The government has imposed a second national lockdown which commenced on 5th November 2020 and will continue to midnight on Wednesday 2nd December 2020. After that time, local Tier restrictions will come into force. These are likely to be tougher than the original ones prior to the 5th November and have yet to be anounced.
What Christmas looks like this year will depend entirely on how successful we are at reducing the spread of COVID-19. So, please make yourselves aware of what you can and cannot do and, as far as possible, stick to the guidelines and restrictions.
National restrictions in England from 5 November provides information on the national restrictions, including what they mean for working from home and business closures, why they are being introduced and the financial support available.
