ST. BARTHOLOMEW’S CHURCH

Due to the current situation it has been decided that all services at the local church will be cancelled until further notice. This is for the health and safety of all concerned. Further updates will be announced as and when the situation changes.

SUTTON MEADOW

Somewhere in the meadow there is a reminder of past times – a long, unlovely strip of concrete that runs parallel to much of the long top wall but which thankfully is hidden from view behind the main shrub bed. Someone years ago must have toiled long and hard to install the concrete strip. But why? And what was it used for, when finished? To stack hay? To park the tractor? It’s remained a puzzle until very recently when a long-standing village resident wa asked  if he knew the answer. And he did. ‘A henhouse was there’ he said, ‘I remember it well.’

Sutton Meadows, well worth a visit if only to sit and ponder, social distancing adhered to of course!
