ST. BARTHOLOMEW’S CHURCH

Despite all the current restrictions and following government guidelines the Easter Sunday Eucharist went ahead as previously notified at the later time of 10:00am on Sunday 4th April. The celebrant on this occasion was the Revd. Benjamin Marston, Curate at St. Saviours Church Retford. The service was very well accepted by those present, who were happy and somewhat relieved as we take another step nearer normality. The service for next week, Sunday 11th April will be “Holy Eucharist” and will take place at the normal time of 9:30am. Once again everyone is welcome! Please come and join us.

NETWORK RAIL

Network Rail provide the following information: Improvement Work is scheduled to take place from Botany Bay level crossing to Barnby Moor and Sutton level crossing. Teams involved will be clearing overgrown lineside vegetation around the overhead line structures – these are the lines that provide the power to the trains and work must be undertaken to ensure that trees/vegetation don’t cause damage to them leading to delays in train services. To address this work the teams will be using, chainsaws, pole saws, brush cutter/strimmers, hand held tools and site lights. These workings will be taking place on  Thursday 8th April from 01:30 to 05:15,  and on Friday 9th April from 01:30 to 05:15. Network Rail apologies for any inconvenience caused whilst these necessary workings take place.

NEIGHBOURHOOD ALERT

Neighbourhood Watch launches Protect Your Car Campaign

Car crime is a real problem in the UK. Alarmingly, one car is stolen every ten minutes. With Covid-19 and the recent lockdowns, many people aren’t driving or checking on their cars as much as they used to. At Neighbourhood Watch, we need your help to remind car owners to remain vigilant about where and how they park their cars, in order to keep them safe.

“Most car crimes happen because cars are left unlocked. There is a misconception that some cars are auto-locking and lock themselves if left unattended after a period of time. This isn’t always correct. Another misconception is that your car is too old and no one will bother stealing it. This is also incorrect – both new and old cars are at risk. Having a car stolen or broken into is more than simply a hassle, it can impact on people’s livelihoods. The good news is that there are simple steps everyone can take to help reduce the risk to their car. With only a 46% recovery rate we’re reminding everyone to leave your car lockedlit and empty.”

Remember:

Leave your car Locked: A simple mistake that can prove calamitous. 44% of cars are broken into via an unlocked door

Lit: 80% of car crime occurs during the evening or at night. Parking near street lamps or in a busy area can deter thieves.

Empty (or with no items on show): Owners often forget that personal belongings within the car are at as much risk of being stolen as the car itself.

DOG FOULING

An increase in dog fouling has been reported in the village, with some areas suffering more than others. Responsible dog owners clean up after their pets and are happy two do so. People who don’t clean up after their pets leave themselves liable to an on the spot fine of £100, but fines for this offence can be as much as £1000. Being unaware that your dog has fouled, and having no “poop scoop” or bag to pick it up with are not reasonable excuses for not picking up the mess! If your dog fouls, you must pick it up! The only exceptions to the rule are for dogs belonging people who are registered blind. The District Enforcement Officers were seen in the village over the Bank Holiday period and will be attending at various times in the future.

Don’t let your dog become the most expensive pet in the village, at £100 a time, when the answer is so simple – JUST CLEAN UP.
