Sutton Meadow Logo

Over the next three and a half months (depending on the weather), starting in early November, a team of specialists will undertake restoration works on the wall around the Meadow in the village. The wall mortar has decayed over the years and is in need of replacement and / or re-pointing. The re-pointing will be undertaken on both the inside and outside faces of the boundary wall alongside Town Street, Mattersey Road and St Bartholomews Court. Whilst access to the inside face can be made from within the Meadow, access to the outside face will be required from the public pavement.

During the latter, the working area, extending approximately 1 metre from the wall, will be protected by a temporary barrier which will be moved along as the work progresses. The barriers will be removed at night and are unlikely, in the main, to be a hindrance to pedestrians during working hours. Where there is the possibility of an obstruction to the pavement then alternative arrangements will be made to maintain a pedestrian thoroughfare. This may mean that the Meadow will be open on additional days to allow safe passage to pedestrians rather than along the pavement, but will return to the normal 4 day opening on completion of the works.

It is hoped you will take an interest in the work that will preserve the heritage wall and Meadow for us all and future generations to enjoy.
