BELL RINGERS
On Sunday 6th February local ringers rang the church bells ringing a quarter peal of Plain Bob. The ringing, which lasted just over 45 minutes, ended with the finale of Queens. A fitting tribute to mark the anniversary of Her Majesty being monarch 70 years. Well done to all concerned.
SPEED WATCH
The Sutton Speed Watch Team now comprises 7 local people, and have undergone further training sessions at Harworth Police Station last week. On Monday of this week, the group met with the Rural Policing Team on location in Sutton. This gave the team an opportunity to check out the equipment before meeting up next Monday, again with the police present, to hopefully start their campaign in the village.
PARISH COUNCIL
The Parish Council held their Ordinary Meeting on Wednesday 9th February 2022 at 7:00pm. The meeting was held in the Village Hall. Members of the public were invited to attend the meeting or bring any issues to the attention of the Parish Council. The meeting was open by Chairperson Angela Close, who presided over a full council, therefore no apologies for absence required. Clerk to the council Claire Challener was on hand to note the proceedings for the evening. County Councillor Tracey Taylor was present for guidance and advice if needed. Members of the public were also present.
In the public participation section, a local resident gave his views on the village “Speedwatch” scheme now operating and pledged his support for the group and the volunteers who give their time freely to help make the scheme work for the safety of all. Tracey Taylor gave an update and options available for the forthcoming 70-year Jubilee celebrations. Various other agenda items were discussed during the evening and were addressed speedily and expediently, many after a great deal of deliberation. The date of the next meeting was declared as Wednesday 9th March at the usual time of 7:00pm in the Village Hall.
