Next Gardening Club Meeting
When the club meets on Tuesday 3rd of May in Barnby Moor Village Hall, Gail and John Summerfield will be the guest speakers. The talk is titled “Summat for Nowt” and is one not to be missed.
Gardening Club Away Day
The organisers and committee of the club have organized an away day for the group with a visit to RHS Bridgewater to take place on Wednesday 17th August 2022. The cost for the whole trip (return coach and admission to RHS Bridgewater) will be £15.00 per person. There will be a £10.00 per person non-refundable deposit taken in May please, and the balance of £5.00 per person payable in June. Or, if you wish, you can pay the entire £15.00 per person in May! Details of coach times and final arrangements will be circulated nearer the time.

Psychic Night
Join us for a night of clairvoyance when International Medium, Author & Visionary Joanne Gregory visits the Village Hall on Thursday 5th May 2022 at 7:00pm, with tickets at £15.00 in advance.

Annual General Meeting
On Friday, 13th May, the Village Hall Committee will be holding their Annual General Meeting.
Funhouse Comedy Club
Following on from the successful Funhouse Comedy Club event last October, compère Spikey Mike will return on Friday 20th May 2022 to introduce a further 3 comedians.
Tickets will be £20.00 each in advance and include pie and peas.

Next District Councillor Surgery
The next surgery is scheduled to take place on the first Saturday in May from 9:00am to 10:00am in Sutton Village Hall. If you have any outstanding issues or require guidance or advice, then please call in and see your councillor.
Mobile Library
The next visit of the Mobile Library Will take place on Monday 16th May 2022, stopping at all the usual places.
St Bartholomew’s Church
Church Service
On Sunday 24th April, the second Sunday of Easter, a service of “Songs of Praise” was held at the local church. A variety of lessons and Easter Hymns took place during the service. Intercessions: Janet Webb. Organist: Geoff Webb.
The next service, scheduled for Sunday 1st May, third Sunday of Easter will be a “Family Service”, so please come along and bring the family. Everyone is welcome.
Village Events
An eager audience were treated to an evening of thought-provoking theatre when Rob Gee brought his one-man performance of Forget Me Not, the Alzheimer’s Whodunnit, to the Village Hall on Friday 22nd April. Both entertaining and educational in equal measure, the performance dealt with a sensitive subject in a very honest, sometimes sad but always compassionate way, with lots of laugh-out-loud moments from the varied array of characters on offer and a plot line that kept you guessing right to the very end. Rob was happy to stay and discuss his background as a mental health nurse and how his play is used to raise awareness of dementia with other health professionals. All in all a fabulous night was enjoyed by everyone and one which the Village Hall Committee will look to repeat in the near future.
Parish Council
Parish Council Meeting
When the Parish Council met for the Ordinary Meeting on Wednesday 13th APRIL 2022 at 7:00pm in the Village Hall there were no apologies as all councillors were present, members of the public and the press were also in attendance. County Councillor Tracey Taylor was present for advice and guidance if required and gave the meeting the County Update.
Routledge Planning Consultancy Limited was in attendance at the meeting to share with the Parish Council a potential proposal for a planning application in relation to the side garden to the south Ivy Cottage, 45 Sutton Lane for a residential development of 3 units, of 3/4 bedrooms. As this was the public participation section, the chairperson advised the consultant of the situation and requested that the information be put in writing and presented to the council to allow it to be discussed in full and any decisions taken to be advised at the next meeting.
From the floor, questions were asked, and an update requested with regard to flooding in the area and drainage situation within the village. Other agenda items were discussed and dealt with during the evening.
