Parish Council Meeting
The Parish Council meeting scheduled for Wednesday 11th January 2023 went ahead as planned at the usual time of 7:00pm in the Village Hall. Five councillors were present on the night, with apologies received for two unable to attend. Councillor Martin Rees chaired the meeting on the night in the absence of the regular chairman, Tomas Torstensson. The Clerk to the council was present to advise and record the proceedings, with district councillor Darrell Pulk and members of the public also in attendance.
During the public participation part of the agenda, questions were asked from the floor re the proposed flagpole installation at the local church and any updates regarding planning, Diocese views and faculties required. Various discussions took place, but no positive outcome was reached.
District councillor Darrell Pulk informed the meeting that at the forthcoming elections in May, Photographic ID would be required to allow parishioners to vote. A further update from the councillor revealed that during his regular walking visits around the area, he had come across several glass bottles (numbering 50 in total) on the grass verge near to Bellmoor turn off. Realising the possible dangers that could evolve from this, he returned home to return by car and collected same and deposited them at a local bottle bank.
Other discussions during the session included a Speed Watch Update. The local team have now received the official speed gun and are now awaiting the accessories required to make the group fully operational. No further update on the local Public House but a request has been made for a full committee at the next planning meeting. The county councillor’s update indicated that budgets for May election were restricted, and the Hive project has not progressed with no planning application at present.
A local resident has made a request to be co-opted to the council and hopefully this will take place at the next meeting, which is scheduled for Wednesday 8th February 2023.
