Sutton and Barnby Moor Gardening Club

When the club meets next, on Tuesday 4th July, it will be an outing to a local garden centre. A visit to Bolham Manor is planned for Tuesday 4th July 2023 with a 6:00pm start. It is located on Bolham lane, Retford DN22 9JG and just 15 mins out of Retford. Please let the organisers know if you will be attending the event to allow for catering numbers, as tea and cake will be available on the night at an additional charge.

Mobile Library

The library van will be visiting the village on Monday 10th July, stopping at all the usual places at all the usual times.

Parish Council

The Parish Council met on Wednesday 14th June as scheduled, at the usual time of 7:00pm in Sutton Village Hall. Council Chairman Martin Rees welcomed councillors and members of the public to the meeting. Four councillors were present on the night, apologies offered for non-attenders, with one resignation from last meeting.

District councillor Darrell Pulk and County Councillor Tracey were both in attendance, along with members of the public. Clerk to the council Claire Challener was on hand to advise and record the proceedings.

During the event, PCSO John Dale called in to give an update and clarify any outstanding matters. Both District and County councillors gave updates on present or outstanding matters.

Agenda items were dealt with in a swift and proficient manner, some requiring discussion to approve the outcome. The meeting closed at approximately 9:00pm.

Apart from attending council meetings in the ward, your councillor has been busy surveying various situations arising in the area, reported by members of the community, and bringing them to the attention of the appropriate departments responsible.

St Bartholomew’s Church

Church Service

On Sunday 18th June 2023, “A Worship for All Service” took place at the local church at the usual time of 9:30am. The officiant on this occasion was Lay Minister / Reader Joan Herrington, Worship Leader: Janet Webb. Gospel Reading: Matthew 9 v 35-10.8 read by Michael Lane. Intercessions: Janet Webb – Organist: Margaret Rawlings.

Please note that there is No service on Sunday 25th June at St. Bartholomew’s, but services will be held at

  • All Saints Babworth, Songs of Praise at 11:00am
  • Our Lady & St. Peter, Bothamsall, Holy Communion at 9;15am
  • St. Paul’s West Drayton, Morning Worship at 10:30am.

The next service at St. Bartholomew’s is on Sunday 2nd July 2023 at the usual time of 9:30am. Holy Communion will take place with the Rev. Adrian Mason officiating.

Post Office

The Post office operates in the Village Hall on Wednesdays from 10:00am to 12:30pm. Services offered include banking, Cash Deposits, Cash Withdrawals, Bill Payments plus lots more.
