Gardening Club

There is NO Christmas workshop this year, despite what your 2023 programme says.

Instead, we are having a pie/pea and Quiz evening on Tuesday 12 December 2023. This will be at Barnby Moor village hall. Please arrive for 6:45pm, as the quiz will start at 7:00pm prompt.

There will be several tables where you can choose to sit, and we will be serving wine or non-alcoholic drinks.

The quiz will start at 7:00pm, followed by our pie and peas at approximately 8:00pm, there will also be mince pies to follow. There will be a picture quiz for you to also complete during the meal.

The quiz questions will continue after the meal. There will be a prize for the table that wins the quiz with the highest score.

If you have not booked your place at the pie and pea evening, please do so with me by Sunday 3 December 2023. We will not be able to take bookings after this, as we have to submit our numbers to the pie lady! If you would like to come but have not booked or paid yet, please let me know. We can take your payments on the evening of 12 December 2023. We will also be selling raffle tickets (£1:00 per ticket) in the evening for a small prize.

In January, we will be starting our meetings on a THURSDAY from THURSDAY 4 January 2024 at Sutton cum Lound Village Hall, 7:15pm for 7:30pm start. There is parking to the right of the hall and the gate will be open for you to park on the grass. There are a few spaces in front of the building, however one space will be needed for the guest speaker, and please do not park directly in front of the kitchen door (down the left side of the building), or main entrance, as these are potentially a fire exit. There are no steps and access is all on the flat.

Although you have a programme for 2024 meetings, these dates will have to be tweaked on occasions due to the hall being used as a polling station on some Thursdays. We will give you notice about this in advance.

As a committee we are proposing to increase the annual subscription from £15.00 per person per annum to £20.00 per person per annum (from April 2024 when you next pay your subs), however you will not be required to pay the £1.00 per person per meeting coffee money from January 2024. You will actually be £3.00 per person per year better off, and it will also save time collecting monies at the beginning of meetings … you will still get your tea/coffee and biscuit!! Guests will still pay to attend the meeting.

There will be more information about this in the new year.
