Pop-up Fish & Chips

Fancy fish and chips for tea on Friday 23rd February? Then make your way to the Village Hall, where the chip van will be waiting to serve you from 5:00pm to 7:00pm.  The Village Hall will be open so you can take your meal inside and enjoy it with a drink.

Pizza Night

Wallace & Dough will be bringing their Wood Fired Pizza van to the Village Hall on Friday 8th March 2024 from 5:15pm to 7:15pm. The Village Hall will be open from 5.00pm so you can sit and enjoy your meal in comfort with family and friends. Our licensed bar will also be open if you wish to enjoy a drink with your meal. Look out for other mobile caterers visiting the village.

Quiz Night

The next quiz night will hopefully take place at the Village Hall on Sunday 10th March 2024. Doors open 7:00pm for a 7:30pm start.

Knit and Natter

The Knit and Natter group are scheduled to meet again on Saturday 24th February in the Village Hall, from 10:00am to 12:00noon.

District Councillor Surgery

Your District Councillor Darrell Pulk will hold his monthly surgery on Saturday 2nd March in Sutton Village Hall from 9:00am to 11:00am. If you have any issues or need advice, then please contact your councillor or call in on the day.

Gardening Club

The next meeting of the Gardening Club is scheduled for 7:00pm on Tuesday 5th March 2024 at Sutton Village Hall. This will be the groups’ A.G.M. and will include a plant sale. Refreshments and nibbles will be available.

Litter Pick

As part of Bassetlaw District Council’s Spring Clean 2024 event, the Parish Council are once again organising a Community Litter Pick to take place on Saturday 23rd March 2024 from 10:00am.

As in previous years all the necessary equipment, gloves, litter pickers, high visibility vests and rubbish bags, will be provided on the day.

Following the litter pick, Bassetlaw District Council will collect all the bagged rubbish and any other items that we may come across.

Anyone wishing to take part in this event can register their interest by calling (01777) 854 445 and leaving their name and contact details.

Everyone who joins in will receive complimentary refreshments in the Village Hall at the end of the event.

If you want to help make your local area a nicer place to live, then why not do your bit by joining in.

Church Services

At St. Bartholomew’s church, on Sunday 18th February 2024 (First Sunday of Lent) a “Worship for all” service was held at the usual time of 9:30am. Worship Leaders: Janet Webb & Dylan Boddy. Intercessions: Janet Webb: Organist: Margaret Rawlings. Gospel readings: Mark 1. 9 -15.

Please note: There will be no service at St. Bartholomew’s on 25th February 2024. The next service at the local church is on Sunday 3rd March and is a “Family Service”. You are invited to come along and bring the family.

Sutton and Barnby Moor W.I.

The meeting of the local W.I. took place on Wednesday 21st February 2024 in Sutton village hall at the usual time of 2:00pm. A report will follow when to hand.

The Post office operates out of the Village Hall on a regular basis. Please check the Village Hall Calendar of Events for days and times.

Services offered include banking, Cash Deposits, Cash Withdrawals, Bill Payments plus lots more.

We also have the Sutton Spotlight, which goes out to every house in the village on a quarterly (ish) basis. Space is sometimes limited, so try to get your entry in early.

We’re also lucky to have a village Journalist who collates news and updates for the Retford Times on a weekly basis. Get your copy in on Monday morning for the Thursday issue.
