ST.BARTHOLOMEW’S CHURCH: Sunday 24th April is Easter Sunday and Holy Communion will take place at 9:30am. Everybody is welcome.
SPEED WATCH: The “Speed Watch” campaign run in conjunction with the Police and the Parish Council is still ongoing and has only been delayed due to the lack of community volunteers. Several villages in the area have already implemented the system with varying degrees of success, and a marked improvement in the speed of traffic passing through their villages has been noted.
If you think you are capable of carrying out such a task, and are concerned about the speed of vehicles passing through your village, then please contact the chairman of the parish council or any councillor for further details. Full training of any equipment involved will be given.
VILLAGE HALL COMMITTEE: The date for the AGM has been decided as Monday 9th May at 7:30pm in the Village Hall. On this occasion the whole committee will stand down and a new committee will be formed. Anyone who wishes to be considered for a position should contact the secretary as soon as possible or any committee member.
POSTAL SERVICES: The Post Office in the village hall will be available as usual on two occasions each week. On Mondays: 9:30am – 1:30pm and on Thursdays 9:00am – 1:00pm. The local office can supply residents with: Pensions, Foreign Currency, Travel Insurance, Car Insurance, Investments and Savings.
MEET THE NEIGHBOURS: The group met on Tuesday 12th as scheduled in the Village Hall with a somewhat smaller attendance than usual, many of the regular clientele taking last minute holidays or having fixed appointments.
Organiser Joan Reiter was pleased to announce the group had received a grant of £100 from the Goodwin Foundation for the purpose of premises rental, which will enable the residents and friends to attend on a regular basis for the foreseeable future.
Various notices were given out and the usual raffle took place as visitors socialised over afternoon tea. During the session, the local Beat Manager and the area PCSO called in and spoke to the gathering. The PCSO Catherine Phillips addressed the group and informed them about the theft of fuel oil, which in some areas includes domestic heating oil being stolen. The Officer then distributed information detailing preventative measures that can be taken to help reduce such incidents taking place.

QUIZ NIGHT: Sundays quiz night at the Gate Inn was primed to be a big night as last weeks winners “Another Brew Chief” were making an attempt to win three in a row.
For reasons unknown the past winners failed to appear, but that had no bearing on “Huxley’s Pigs” romping home on the night with a good clear margin.
Things are really warming up on quiz nights at the local hostelry.
Another quiz on Sunday, usual 9 o’clock start.
NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH: Tuesday 26th April is the date of the next meeting of the committee of the local association. The meeting will start at the usual time of 2:30pm.
