ST.BARTHOLOMEW’S CHURCH: A “Sung Eucharist” will take place at the local church on Sunday 12th June. The service commences as usual at 9:30am and everybody is welcome.
NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH: After a very successful AGM with 28 members of the public present, it’s business as usual for the local association. The next meeting of the group is scheduled for Tuesday 28th June and will be held at 14 Portland Place Sutton at the usual time of 2:30pm.
POSTAL SERVICES: The Post Office in the Village Hall will be available as usual on two occasions each week. On Mondays: 9:30am – 1:30pm and on Thursdays 9:00am – 1:00pm. The local office can supply residents with: Pensions, Foreign Currency, Travel Insurance, Car Insurance, Investments and Savings.
STRAWBERRY FAYRE: Final preparations are in progress for the annual Strawberry Fayre, which will take place on Sunday 26th June 2011 at “Little Grange” the bungalow at Sutton Grange Farm, situated down the lane past Wetlands.
The event is scheduled to start at approximately 1:00pm and continue until 4:00pm and a slightly different format will be implemented on this occasion in an attempt to bring the greater community together.
The local church, Sutton village School and the Village Hall committee have joined forces and will come together to organise this very popular event which will hopefully attract a greater number of residents and friends. The main attraction of course is the delicious strawberries with lashings of cream, the Pimms Bar and a selection of games and competitions will be available during the day, whilst socialising over afternoon tea.

WOMENS INSTITUTE: President Jackie Payne was on hand to welcome members and guests when the Sutton and Barnby Moor WI met on Wednesday 18th May in Sutton Village Hall at 7:15pm. On completion of the official business and general notices which included details of a trip arranged to Trentham Gardens, on the 12th July 2011 with local coach operator, leaving Retford at 9:00am.
The annual dinner has been arranged for Wednesday 17th August and will be held at the Huntsman Inn, Torworth at 7:00pm.
Chris Gunn a WI advisor addressed the meeting on the resolutions and on the subject of Mega Farming; members were against the proposal and suggest a government ban on same.
The question of closure of local libraries was also under discussion and the general feeling was that government should maintain the Status Quo on this.
Member Val Moore had great pleasure in relating detail of her latest trip to the Amazon which was of great interest to the gathering.
At the end of the evening the customary vote of thanks was given by the President and refreshments were in the capable hands of hostesses Beryl Thornhill and Jean Roberts.

In keeping with current trends your Meet the Neighbours team are organising a strawberry and cream tea for resident and friends at the next meeting of the group.
