VILLAGE HALL UPDATE: Sorry if anyone was misled by last weeks report that contractors were working extra hours to get the job back on track, they are in actual fact in advance of their schedule. As stated, any delays encountered being mainly due to the late arrival and stock error on materials delivered, hence working of extra hours to ensure despite the setbacks that progress continues to be maintained.
Electrical work is well under-way, the new boiler is up and running and the re-positioning of radiators in the hall appears to be making the hall warmer than it has been for some time. With the new ceiling lights in position this now leaves the way clear for the boarding over of the overhead structure forming the framework for the lowered ceiling. and the provision of insulation materials before the overhead works is completed.
The contractors will then move on to the next stage of the project.

ST. BARTHOLOMEW’S CHURCH: The service at St. Bartholomew’s church on Sunday 26th February will be “Songs of Praise”. The service commences at 9:30am and everyone welcome.
POSTAL SERVICES: The Post Office in the Village Hall will be available as usual on two occasions each week. On Mondays: 9:30am – 1:30pm and on Thursdays 9:00am – 1:00pm. The local office can supply residents with: Pensions, Foreign Currency, Travel Insurance, Car Insurance, Investments and Savings.
POLICE: Local Beat manager for the area PC Steve Bolstridge can be contacted on Mobile: 07525 226 886 for information and advice. Alternative Police contact can be made on 101, the new number now in use for non-emergency calls. More urgent needs may require a 999 call.
CAN YOU HELP?: Raise money for your charity by collecting empty ink cartridges.
Please collect as many ink cartridges as possible from neighbours, co-workers and family. Bring the cartridges to your charity and place them in the recycling box which by kind permission of Mrs Pick will be sited in the village store or ring the Village Hall number (07092 985831) if collection is required.

NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH: The local association report the following incident:
At approximately 01:00 hours on Tuesday 14/02/2012 an attempted burglary was reported on Main Street, Mattersey. The offenders attempted to gain entry through the rear door of the property. The offenders were disturbed and made their escape. Please ensure that all keys from windows and doors are removed at night to prevent anyone gaining easy access to your property. If you have an alarm that can be set, please set it. If you notice anyone or any vehicles acting suspiciously, please report it on 101. The local association will hold their monthly meeting on Tuesday 28th February at the usual time of 2:30pm.

PLAY FACILITIES: Work started on the new play facilities in the village hall grounds last week when workmen arrived and began marking out the position for the selected play equipment. A delivery of fence supports and barrier rails have also arrived and wait positioning.

PCSO: The local PCSO Catherine Phillips called in at the Village Hall on Monday 20th February during the Post Office session and spoke to residents, who called in to use the service,

CUP AND CHATTER: The Idle Valley Society met at the Citrus Café at the Retford and Gainsborough Garden Centre on Monday 13th February at 2:00pm.
The group socialised for the afternoon before looking round the venue to select any purchases required.
