On Saturday the 22nd September, County Councillor Liz Yates had the great pleasure to escort Harry Hopkins and his wife Pat to County Hall for a ‘Thank you’ event for Nottinghamshire volunteers who, with their hard work and dedication, have made the county a better place to live in. Liz nominated Harry for his fifteen years of service to the village Neighbourhood Watch scheme, which is held in high regard with officials from NHW and the Police. Harry has steadfastly chaired the regular monthly meetings and makes sure that information is sent out throughout Sutton, with the help of the NHW co-ordinators, telling residents of any potential problems that may occur.
Liz says that it was a very enjoyable afternoon with entertainment from a musical group, afternoon tea and a tour of County Hall which took in the Council Chamber, the Administrations Offices and the Emergency Planning Department down in the basement. A nice touch was that the ‘tour guides’ were senior officers and directors who were very interested in the people they were showing around. Harry is not just a credit to Sutton but also a credit to the county, and we thank him very much.
