All members of the community are able to access up to date crime figures for their area by accessing the www.Police.uk web site.
This site is available by either typing the address into your browser address bar, or by accessing the Web site for Nottinghamshire Police at www.nottinghamshire.police.uk and selecting “Your Local Police” from the selection menu at the top of the screen. You can then click the “button” to the right hand side of the screen prompting you to “Find out information about crime in your area”.
www.Police.uk allows users to search by postcode. The site provides details not only of crime levels by beat area, but can also be used to ‘drill’ down to street level. This can be very useful in the rural areas as it allows a breakdown almost by Parish boundary when looking at the street search.
This has proved to be a very useful tool with positive feedback from those that have taken the time to use it.
The system can also be used to see who your local team of officers allocated to the area are together with photographs. Engagements that are planned by the team are also accessible from the site. This will allow any member of the public who wishes to speak to a member of the team personally, to do so at one of these meetings.
The system also identifies any “Patchwalks” that are planned. “Patchwalks” are a planned and structured patrol within a community which are advertised on both the Notts Police Web pages and also via the Police.UK site. These are conducted on occasions with partners who wish to be involved and are completed in an effort to allow residents in an area to be able to approach the Neighbourhood Policing Team as they patrol that area providing an opportunity for the public to pass on any concerns they may have to local officers.
Further information can be obtained by clicking the “Help and Support” button on the Notts Police Web site. Once done, this button allows you to complete a Safer Neighbourhoods Survey, used to allow members of the public to be involved in the setting of local priorities by completion of this on line survey.
