
ST.BARTHOLOMEW’S CHURCH: Friday 28th being “Good Friday” a “Tenebrae” service will take place at the local church, starting at 7:00pm.
On Easter Sunday, 31st March, a Sung Eucharist will take p lace starting at the earlier time of 9:00am. A warm welcome awaits worshippers at either or both services.
POSTAL SERVICES: The Post Office in the Village Hall will be available as usual on two occasions each week. On Mondays 9:30am – 1:30pm and on Thursdays 9:00am – 1:00pm. The local office can supply residents with : Pensions, Foreign Currency, Travel Insurance, Car insurance, investments and Savings. Please note Monday 1st April is a Bank Holiday.

The committee of the local association held their monthly meeting on Tuesday 25th March at 27 Portland Place Sutton at the usual time of 2:30pm. and a full report will follow.

FLYGILITY: Like a lot more outdoor events last Saturdays Flygility session had to be cancelled due to inclement weather. It is hoped the event can go ahead on Saturday 30th March, – weather permitting.
SUTTON SPOTLIGHT: The latest edition of the Sutton Spotlight should be landing on your doormat sometime this week, depending on the availability of voluntary distributors, and allowing for adverse weather conditions
The village newsletter, funded by Sutton cum Lound Parish Council and produced by an army of volunteers, is again full of excellent information and useful content, including broad spectrum coverage of many events and meetings held in the village. Early days yet, but first reports indicate that the popularity of the published article is increasing with each issue, thanks to the efforts of the people who make it all possible.

VILLAGE HALL UPDATE: A delayed delivery in materials held up progress in the Village Hall improvements programme last week but work should now progress as planned.
WOMEN’S INSTITUTE: When the ladies of Sutton and Barnby Moor held their monthly meeting on Wednesday 20th March 2013 in Sutton Village Hall it was the occasion of the groups AGM.
President Jackie Payne welcomed members and three visitors to the meeting which commenced at the usual time of 7:15pm.
The official business was dealt with speedily and efficiently and important notices and information given out. As this was the Annual meeting there was no speaker engaged for the evening.
The election of officers and committee members was high on the list of priorities, and in line with the usual procedures this was next topic to be dealt with.
The present committee stood down, indicating their willingness to stand again should they be required, and with no nominations forthcoming from the floor, the willing volunteers were unanimously re-elected en bloc to serve for a further twelve months.
The previous incumbent Jackie Payne now re-elected resumes her role as President and other members maintain their posts as before.
Other business discussed included the “Group Meeting” which is scheduled to take place on Tuesday 14th May in Clarborough Village Hall at 7:30pm.
The speaker on that occasion will be Mr. Michael Massarella¸ who will address the group on the subject of Ice cream by Massarella’s and others.
Light refreshments will be served on the night, with a cover charge of £4.00 for Members and £4.50 for visitors.
With an eye to the future, the way forward for the local WI was discussed with suggestions of various group outings as well as planned theatre trips.
At the April meeting of the group, members can look forward to speaker Lily Davis on the subject of Forensic Archaeology.
A few vacancies exist within the group old and new members and bona-fide guests are always welcome.

VILLAGE HALL COMMITTEE: The Village Hall committee met on Wednesday 27th March as scheduled and a full report will follow next week.
KELLY J FITNESS: The local group continue to meet on Monday nights at 7:00pm in the Village Hall and tends to attract new members at each session.
The fully qualified fitness instructor and personal trainer is on hand to put members through their paces with exercises tailored to suit individual needs.
This is a chance to get your body in shape for and if summer should come along.
