ST.BARTHOLOMEW’S CHURCH: “Morning Prayer” will be the service at the local church on Sunday 5th May. The service commences at 9:30am and everyone is welcome.

POSTAL SERVICES: The Post Office in the Village Hall will be available as usual on two occasions each week. On Mondays 9:30am – 1:30pm and on Thursdays 9:00am – 1:00pm. The local office can supply residents with : Pensions, Foreign Currency, Travel Insurance, Car insurance, investments and Savings.

Please note Monday 6th May is a Bank Holiday.

VILLAGE HALL UPDATE: Work continues with the hall upgrade, with many outstanding jobs being given the final touches. After a final check contractors will complete the re-decorating, bringing phase one of the project to a close.

SUTTON ART GROUP: The group meet every Friday morning in the Village Hall and will continue throughout the season. Further details of the group and their activities are available from Joan Reiter on 01777 702 137 or Margaret Beare on 01777 704 836.

WOMEN’S INSTITUTE: When the ladies of the Sutton and Barnby Moor WI meet on Wednesday 15th May it will be Resolution night. After the Resolutions have been formulated by the group, members and guests can turn their attention to a “Beetle Drive” organised on their behalf’. A stall on the evening will have a selection of books and puzzles on sale. Members old and new always welcome.

On Tuesday 14th the Group Meeting will take place at Clarborough hall at 7:30pm.

A few tickets are available for the event and can be purchased from members of the Sutton and Barnby Moor group.

NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH: The committee of the local association met on Tuesday 29th April at the usual time of 2:30pm. at 52 Station Rd. In the village and a full report will follow.

MEET THE NEIGHBOURS: Tuesday 14th May is Meet the Neighbours day and this is the chance to meet yours in the comfort of the recently refurbished Village Hall.

Come along and join the team and socialise over afternoon tea whilst catching up on all the latest news and views from in and around the area.

No matter what the weather brings , you are always sure of a warm welcome.

PARISH COUNCIL: Sutton cum Lound’s Annual Parish Meeting took place in the Village Hall on Thursday 25th April at 7:00pm.

A review of the past year events took place by the representatives from the following groups:

  • Marion Strange representing Sutton cum Lound C of E School
  • Joan Richardson representing St Bartholomew’s Church
  • Angela Close chairman of Sutton Village Hall Trustees
  • PCSO Dave Airey representing the Police
  • Local Farmer Fred Walters
  • Kathryn Seddon’s spoke on behalf of the Parish Plan Steering Group
  • both District and County Councillors reported their input over the past year
  • and Martin Rees gave the Chairman’s report on behalf of the Parish Council

After the place reserved for the public participation, light refreshments were served.

Those in attendance socialised for approximately one hour after the meeting was brought to a close.

SUTTON APRIL CLUB: The Sutton club will meet on Friday 3rd May in Sutton Village Hall at the usual time of 2:00pm.

ALLOTMENT FLYER: A number of householders from the Sutton lane area are eagerly awaiting the results of the survey carried out recently to ascertain the number of residents requiring allotments in the village. Forms should have by now been filled in and returned to the address shown, in the first instance, with information being collated prior to any further consultation process. COUNCIL ELECTIONS: Residents are reminded that Thursday 2nd May is polling day and voting for County Councillors will take place at the Village Hall
