
VILLAGE VENTURES: Still a few tickets available for the next presentation in the Village Ventures series which is on Sunday 21st April when the Badapple Theatre Company perform “Lights out Land Girls”. VILLAGE HALL UPDATE: Work continues in the servery area with the new storage cupboards being installed, the new cooler unit is in place and a wash-hand basin now in situ. New doors are available for fitting to the units and alterations to the service hatch has commenced. A new hot water heater soon to be fitted will just leave oddments before decoration of the unit.
ST.BARTHOLOMEW’S CHURCH: A “Family Service” will take place at the local church on Sunday 21st April. The service commences at 9:30am and everyone is welcome.
POSTAL SERVICES: The Post Office in the Village Hall will be available as usual on two occasions each week. On Mondays 9:30am – 1:30pm and on Thursdays 9:00am – 1:00pm. The local office can supply residents with : Pensions, Foreign Currency, Travel Insurance, Car insurance, investments and Savings.

WOMEN’S INSTITUTE: The next meeting of the Sutton and Barnby Moor WI can expect a bigger turnout than usual when they meet on Wednesday 17th April 2013
Members can look forward to speaker Lily Davis on the subject of forensic Archaeology. A few vacancies exist within the group old and new members and bona-fide guests are always welcome.
PARISH COUNCIL: Sutton cum Lound’s Annual Parish meeting will take place in the Village Hall on Thursday 25th April at 7:00pm.
There will be a review of the past year by the representatives from the following:
- Parish Council
- Village Hall Trustees
- Parish Plan Steering Group
- St Bartholomew’s Church
- Sutton cum Lound C of E School
- Police
- Local Farmers
- Your District and Parish Councils.
Light refreshments will be served on the night
When the Council met on Wednesday 10th those present were: The Chairman, Vice Chair and five councillors and the Clerk to the council, with two apologies offered on the night.
A crowd of approximately 20 members of the public were in attendance. The group had come to voice their concerns over proposed plans to make a piece of land available for allotments behind properties on Sutton Lane, should the said land become available for that purposed. Various exchanges of ideas took place during the evening, with the council agreeing to go away and look at optional plots of land that may be suitable and the availability of the same.
The usual Agenda business then took place.
SUTTON ART GROUP: The group meet every Friday morning in the Village Hall and will continue throughout the season. Further details of the group and their activities are available from Joan Reiter on 01777 702 137 or Margaret Beare on 01777 704 836.
MEET THE NEIGHBOURS: The neighbours group met as arranged on Tuesday 9th April with twenty four people from the village and surrounding areas making the effort to be there. Those in attendance socialised over afternoon tea, whilst catching up on all the local chit-chat. A surprise visit by the former PCSO for the Village Catherine Darby (at present on maternity leave) brought her baby son Ethan to visit the village and meet the residents his mum had made friends with during her two years of service in the area. Official notices were given out and the usual raffle took place.
PCSO Dave Airey was in attendance and District and County Council were represented by Councillor Liz Yates and Councillor Tracey Taylor.

SUTTON APRIL CLUB: The Sutton club will meet on Friday 19th April in the Village Hall at the usual time of 2:00pm, when the group will engage in a selection of their favourite games.
