
COFFEE MORNING: The Coffee Morning held in the Village Hall, on Saturday 18th May from 10:30am to 12:30pm kindly arranged by Brian and Kathryn Seddons, was a well attended event. So many things happening under one roof: the Coffee Morning itself, a Litter Pick which commenced earlier, not forgetting the display of paintings by Sutton Art Group, a display of pictures from the local school depicting the role of the local PCSO Dave Airey as seen through the eyes of the younger generation and much, much more.
A £2.00 cover charge for Coffee and Cake and all done by volunteers. Well done all!
ST.BARTHOLOMEW’S CHURCH: “Songs of Praise” will be the order of service at the local church on Sunday 26th. The service commences at 9:30am and everyone is welcome.
POSTAL SERVICES: The Post Office in the Village Hall will be available as usual on two occasions each week. On Mondays 9:30am – 1:30pm and on Thursdays 9:00am – 1:00pm. The local office can supply residents with: Pensions, Foreign Currency, Travel Insurance, Car insurance, investments and Savings.

LITTER PICK: The annual Sutton cum Lound village litter pick which took place on Saturday 18th May was again deemed a great success. The volunteers who turned out on the day were welcomed back to the Village Hall where they were met with hot drinks and cakes and thanked for their efforts which were greatly appreciated.
NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH: The local Neighbourhood Watch Association held their AGM on Tuesday evening 21st May in the Village Hall and a full report will follow.
MEET THE NEIGHBOURS: The neighbours group met in the Village Hall on Tuesday 14th May from 2:00pm – 4:00pm.
A smaller turnout than usual due to, holidays, Hospital appointments and other outstanding commitments. Although smaller in numbers the group were high in spirit Team leader Joan Reiter had to leave earlier (for one of reasons given above,) with team member and village stalwart Jean Beardsall taking charge for the rest of the afternoon, with help from friends and colleagues.
The usual notices were given out, reminders about the gardening club, Neighbourhood Watch updates including AGM arrangements as the visitors socialised in convivial company with afternoon tea, scones and savouries provided. The usual raffle was drawn.
PCSO Dave Airey gave an updated crime report and advised those present to remain vigilant and took the opportunity to thank villagers as a whole for their continued support to the Police and to himself over the last six months. The PCSO has covered this beat as well as his own area since the former incumbent Catherine Darby went on maternity leave. Those present offered the officer best wishes for the future although he may have occasion to be in the village from time to time. The new PCSO Aaron Stocks is in post and will be seen in and around the area and it its hoped villagers will give him the same support as they have given to the other officers.
The event was attended by District Councillor Tracey Taylor who mingled with residents and friends during the afternoon session.
VILLAGE HALL COMMITTEE: The Village Hall Committee held their AGM on Wednesday 22nd May in the village hall at 7:30pm.
PARISH COUNCIL: Following the resignation of Councillor John Gough, there is now a vacancy on the Parish Council.
A By-election to fill the vacancy will be held if, within 14 days (not counting Saturdays and Sundays and certain bank holiday periods from the date of notification 10 electors from the Parish give notice in writing claiming such an Election to the Returning Officer, at Queen’s Buildings, Potter St. Worksop. Notts.S80 2AH
If no such notice is given, the Parish Council will fill the vacancy by co-option.
