Young minds focus in on burglary

Today; Superintendent Michael Manley and Nottinghamshire’s Police and Crime Commissioner Paddy Tipping had the difficult task of selecting two winners from a poster competition aimed at reducing burglary in north Nottinghamshire.
Eleven to 14 – year olds from secondary schools in Bassetlaw, Newark and Sherwood designed the A3 posters to help raise awareness among their communities, families and friends of how best to protect their property from thieves.
The posters which were all hand crafted highlight potential insecurities at home, the use of security marking and logging property, and the importance of reporting suspicions incidents and behaviour to police immediately.
Superintendent Michael Manley said:
“I am greatly impressed by all of the entries, it’s fantastic to see so many young people help us to fight crime and I know that if the parents take note of what their children are telling us, together we can make the community safer.”
The 2 winning designers will each receive a £30 Argos voucher and the runners up for each area will receive a £15 Argos voucher. The winners, along with the runners-up, and their parents will also be invited to a commendation ceremony later this year to receive certificates for their efforts.
