District councils have recently sent out the annual Voter Registration Form. By law, this form has to be completed to ensure that the Electoral Register, also known as the Electoral Roll, is kept up to date.
However, there are 2 versions of the Electoral Register and the form gives you the option to remove your details from the second version, called the Edited Register. Various organisations can purchase the edited register and use the details for commercial activities, including direct marketing. Removing your details from the Edited Register will help to reduce unwanted junk mail and telesales calls.
