CHRISTMAS MARKET: Visit the Christmas market on Saturday 30th November in the Village Hall from 2:00pm to 4:00pm. A variety of stalls to browse over. Free admission!

ST.BARTHOLOMEW’S CHURCH: As the festive season approaches, a service of Morning Prayer will be held on Sunday 1st December at the local church. The service starts at the usual time of 9:30am and everyone is welcome.

CRAFT CLASSES: The monthly craft class will meet again on Wednesday 4th December in the Village Hall from 7:00pm to 9:30pm.

This is a special event and although the cost is £14.00 everyone in attendance will leave with a variety of craft work produced to a high standard by their own fair hands ready for the festive season.

VILLAGE VENTURES: Billed as the fun event of the year, the next production in the Village Ventures Series is scheduled to take place on Saturday 7th December 2013 at 7:30pm.in the Village Hall. Get in the mood for the festive season when Scary Little Girls Productions proudly present “Mother Mae I”, a Christmas Cabaret.

Tickets are £8.00 and are sold on a first come first served basis (under 16’s £4.00).

PTFA COFFEE MORNING: The Parents, Teachers, Friends Association (PTFA) are holding a coffee morning at the local school on Saturday 7th December from 10:00am to 12:00noon. A selection of stalls will be operating on the day, including: a book stall, second-hand  toy stall, home-made cakes and  lucky dip.

Refreshments plus more! All welcome.

SANTAS VILLAGE VISIT: Santa and his sleigh will visit the village, accompanied by North Notts Lions on Wednesday 11th December at around 6:00pm.

The Lions will carry out a door to door collection that evening and it is hoped that villagers will support them as in previous years.

SIXTY-FIVE YEARS: The Ladies of Sutton and Barnaby Moor Women’s Institute celebrated sixty five years in existence when they met in Sutton Village Hall on the evening of 20th November and are still going strong!!

Invited guests and past members were invited to join their colleagues and friends as they marked this great occasion. One of the group’s founder members Mrs Joyce Tipping was unable to make the evenings’ event but sent her apologies and best wishes to all. Amongst the invited guests were Jane Jefferson, Federation Chairman and Ann-Marie Morley, County Adviser.

The evening started with the singing of Jerusalem and then moved on to the evenings’ guest speaker Mr Andrew Oaks. The subject being appropriate and very welcoming “Wine Tasting” red wines from the French Vineyards southern regions being declared the best areas. The generous samples seemed to be enjoyed by all and put members in the mood for the Steak Pie and mushy peas that followed topped with mint sauce and gravy. Dessert was a special made cake to mark the occasion made by Claire (Armstrong) daughter of one of the members.

The event came to a close with tea and a natter to friends old and new.

Next month, December, is the members Christmas celebrations and patrons are requested to bring along some food and a wrapped Xmas present to the value of two pounds. Home-made decorations will be judged on the night.

NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH: The committee of the local association will hold their monthly meeting on Wednesday 27th November at the usual time of 2:30pm.

MEET THE NEIGHBOURS: The arrangements for the Christmas celebration of Meet the Neighbours have now been confirmed and will take place on Tuesday 10th December at Sutton Village Hall. Will patrons please note the event will take place at the later time of 4:30pm as Thorsby Brass Band will be playing for us at around 6:00pm. Please put the date in your diary !

POSTAL SERVICES: The Post Office in the Village Hall will be available as usual on two occasions each week. On Mondays 9:30am to 1:30pm and on Thursdays 9:00am to 1:00pm. The local office can supply residents with: Pensions, Foreign Currency, Travel Insurance, Car insurance, investments and Savings.

WHEELIE BINS: Residents are reminded that green bins should be put out for collection late on Monday night 2nd December or early Tuesday morning.
