NOTICE BOARD: The Parish Council has now installed a public notice board on the bus shelter to the right of Picks Stores. This is available for Sutton residents to place their own personal notices (for sale, announcements etc) and is not locked.
STREET LIGHTING POLL: The Parish Council report that there were 171 votes in total on the Street lighting Poll of which 67% wanted the lights back on. These figures will now be passed on to the County Council for consideration. The Parish Council were able to offer an online voting option on this poll which in itself, for a small Parish Council, is quite an achievement and all thanks to Andy Close the Sutton cum Lound site webmaster but the fact that 59% voted online is a reflection of the times we live in.
SUTTON LITTER PICK: Only 7 volunteers turned up for the annual community litter pick but the 7 turning up were quality pickers and were able to cover the whole village. Thanks to all those attending who were rewarded with a piece of cake and cuppa courtesy of the Parish Council at the regular Village Hall Coffee morning hosted by Brian and Kathleen Seddons.
ST.BARTHOLOMEW’S CHURCH: At the local church on Sunday 25th May, “Songs of Praise” will take place. The service starts at 9:30am and everyone is welcome.
SUTTON LEVEL CROSSING: The clerk to the Parish Council has contacted Network Rail with regard to various observations by villagers about the increased downtime and delays at the level crossing on Station Road in the village. In response Network Rail maintain that the average downtime is between four and four and a half minutes. They continue, at times this may be increased but first and foremost for them are Health and Safety considerations.
CAMP SITE AT DANESHILL: The protestors at the camp at Daneshill would like to thank all the local residents in the area who supported them in various ways during their time at the site. It was much appreciated by all in camp. They were not there to cause inconvenience to locals only to highlight in a peaceful way what is going on all over the UK regarding Gas Extraction. (The Protectors)

NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH: The local association held its AGM on Thursday 15th May in the Village Hall and a full report will follow.
The following information has also been forwarded to the group:
NO UNINVITED CALLERS
- CAREFUL – Drive tarmac – a man with an Irish accent was in the village today asking residents if they wanted their drive ‘doing’ – and he was rude to one person who refused.
- CAREFUL – Fish Scam – door-to-door fish salesmen are visiting country residents and trying to persuade them to buy hundreds of pounds of fish. Residents are given the impression that they are only buying a few pieces, but are then presented with a freezer-filling amount of largely unlabelled fish, some of which is unfit to eat, plus a bill for up to three hundred pounds.
The fish scam is a growing national problem and the County Council’s Trading Standards service has for example, received a recent complaint on behalf of a lady in Bingham who was persuaded to a buy a basketful of fish by a doorstep trader at a cost of £156. Doorstep sellers also tend not to offer customers cancellation rights or a receipt to allow them to seek a refund if they are not satisfied with the goods. We advise that the best place to buy fish is from a reputable fishmonger at an established shop or stall. Anyone who has been approached by fish sellers in this manner should contact the Citizens Advice Consumer Service on 08454 04 05 06.or David Brocklebank (Nottinghamshire County Council, Trading Standards Officer, Nottinghamshire).
