ST BARTHOLOMEW’S CHURCH: “Holy Communion” will take place at the local church on Sunday 13th July. The service starts at 9:30am and everyone is welcome.
SUTTON LEVEL CROSSING: Over 150 concerned residents from the local area were in attendance on Friday afternoons public exhibition at Scrooby Village Hall held between 1:00pm and 7:00pm. They were there at the request of Ardent Management Limited operating on behalf of Network Rail to gather information and ask questions with regards to forthcoming proposal surrounding the operation of the East Coast Main Line level Crossing Closure programme which includes Barnby Moor and Sutton level crossing.
A second meeting was scheduled for Saturday 5th July from 10:00m to 4:00pm and again a report will follow in due course.
CRIME PREVENTION EVENT: The crime prevention event organised in conjunction with the local Neighbourhood Watch Association took place on Tuesday night as arranged. An update will follow later.
GARDENING CLUB: Sutton Gardening Club, following the inspirational talk by Chris of Taylor’s Clematis Nursery in early spring, 21 members of the club visited the nursery on a warm 21st June afternoon where more plant buying took place. On the evening of Tuesday 1st July, 15 members enjoyed garden visits thanks to two club members from Barnby Moor.
We first visited Sally’s of Station Road to see a ‘garden in progress’ – and what good progress in remodelling has been made since she and her husband moved into the property in autumn 2013. Then we moved on to Eileen and Roger’s of The Coppice to see a very nice well established garden with an abundance of clematis on show. Tea, coffee, biscuits and cakes kept everyone going for a very enjoyable 2 hours.
PARISH COUNCIL MEETING: The Parish Council held its monthly meeting on Wednesday 9th July at the usual time of 7:00pm in the Village Hall as scheduled. A full report will follow.
SCHOOL NEWS: Thank you to villagers who supported the Car Boot Sale last month. The event raised a welcome £70 for the School Fund. The next Ragtex collection will be on July 11th). Please use the clothing bank at the rear of the school car park for donations of any clean pre-loved clothing, curtains, sheets, toys & DVDs. This also helps to raise funds for School.
Villagers are welcome to see the School’s Summer Performance, which is linked to Key Stage 2’s WWll topic. “ Edith’s Wartime Memories” is on Thursday July 17th at 1.30pm.
