SUTTON SPEED SIGN: After repeated requests from the Parish Council and members of the public, the village has now got its own speed reduction indicator up and running on Sutton lane. Observant motorists will have already noticed the sign; those who haven’t are probably going too fast. Please slow down.
ST.BARTHOLOMEW’S CHURCH: A service with a difference will take place at the local church on Sunday 29th June. Children’s Aid Agencies will be the subject of the sermon. The service starts at 9:30am and everyone is welcome.
CRIME PREVENTION EVENING: The local Neighbourhood Watch Committee have organised a Crime Prevention Evening, on Tuesday 8th July in the Village Hall at 7:30pm.
You are invited to come along and meet Pre-crime Unit Manager Steve Walsh, from Nottinghamshire Police. Steve will bring along crime prevention items stocked by his unit and advise on their uses. He will also answer questions on crime prevention in general.

TRADING STANDARDS: Nottinghamshire residents are being warned about a bogus cold caller claiming to be from the County Council who asks unrelated questions about mortgages, health insurance and other financial products.
The Council’s Trading Standards has received a complaint from a south Nottinghamshire resident who was contacted by a man who said he was undertaking a short telephone survey on behalf of Nottinghamshire County Council.
There was background call centre noise and the resident became suspicious when he started to ask about whether she had a Sky aerial.
The Council is warning residents that calls of this nature are not in any way related to its organisation.
Sarah Houlton, Trading Standards and Community Safety Team Manager from the Council offers the following advice: It’s known practice for unscrupulous companies to claim they are from a well-known and respected organisation when they cold call to gain trust and encourage people to respond to their surveys.
However, the County Council would not be ringing about financial products or Sky dishes so be wary of such cold callers claiming to be working on our behalf.
If you suspect they are lying just politely decline to carry out the telephone survey – if you feel they are not being honest about where they are from they are not to be trusted.

NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH: The next committee meeting of the local association will be held on Tuesday 25th June at the usual time of 2:30pm.
MEET THE NEIGHBOURS: The Meet the Neighbours group held their meeting in the Village Hall on Wednesday 10th June as arranged from 2pm – 4pm and a report will follow next week.
WOMEN’S INSTITUTE: Nottinghamshire Federation of WI’s ‘Baton Week’ took place from 11th June 2014 to 18th June 2014. A WI Centenary Baton Relay began in Anglesey on January 1st 2014 and will make its way around the numerous Federations until it reaches the Albert Hall at the AGM in 2015. The Baton arrived here from Lincolnshire on Wednesday 11th June 2014 and left for Derbyshire on Wednesday 18th June.
