NETWORK RAIL: Representatives from Network Rail have arranged to meet with villagers and other members of the public on Thursday 27th November in the Village Hall between the hours of 2:00pm and 7:00pm. A good crowd attended throughout the afternoon, and were greeted by mulled wine, mince pies and other refreshments. The large Christmas hamper was won by Emma Newboult from Retford. A member of the Head family won the sweet competition and the bottles of wine were won by a visitor from Lound.

Proceeds from the event destined for village hall funds are thought to be in the region of £600. Further details will follow.

QUIZ NIGHT: Another good turnout at the Gate Inn on Sunday evening, 23rd November, with one or two new faces showing up to take part in the ever popular quiz night.

Regular quizmaster John Jones was unavailable at this session but local man Pabalo stepped into the breech and ran a successful competition.

Questions appeared to be a bit more difficult than of late but contenders were as keen as ever to do battle. At the halfway stage, the interval quiz was attempted and the winner’s in this section was the newly formed team The Four B’s.

The second half soon got under way, good humour and banter continued as soul-searching and head-scratching took place around the room with all teams aiming to be top-dog on the night. At the end of the evening the team “Neighbours” were declared winners by a fair margin.

Mine Host Paul Geeson gave thanks to all for taking part and a special thank you to Pabalo and quiz researcher Margaret Boreham. Another quiz night next Sunday at the usual starting time of 8:00pm.
