SUTTON ART GROUP: As part of the event “Art in the Village” celebrating 20years in existence this year, there will be a painting taster day on Saturday 28th February in Sutton Village Hall from 1:00pm to 3:00pm.
This will be led by popular artist Peter Woolley and no experience is required to join in this fun event. Admission is free and all materials will be provided. So, if you have not picked up a paint brush since school or would like to learn a little more about art, just come along on the day. The children’s session of creative art led by Elaine Nash held on Friday 20th February was a resounding success, with many colourful pieces of work produced in a fun environment. These and other works resulting from the workshops will be displayed at a coffee morning, date to be announced.
ST.BARTHOLOMEW’S CHURCH: A “Morning Prayer” will take place on Sunday 1st March at the local church.
The service starts at 9:30am and everyone is welcome.
SUTTON GARDENING CLUB: The next meeting of the Gardening Club is on Tuesday 3rd March at 7:15pm in the Village Hall. We will review the 2014 Show and discuss what we should do to make the 2015 Show an even bigger success.
In anticipation of an early finish to this discussion, a short slide show presentation will take place detailing 65 pictures from Singapore largely based on their answer to the Eden Project in Cornwall. Well worth a look!
SUTTON APRIL CLUB: The next meeting of the club is on Friday 6th March at the usual time of 2:00pm to 4:00pm in the Village Hall.
MEET THE NEIGHBOURS: The next meeting of the Neighbours group will take place on Tuesday 10th March. On this occasion the group will assemble at the Gate Inn in readiness for a meal at approximately 1:00pm. Diners can then avail themselves of a meal of cottage pie, carrots and peas priced at £5.00 per person. This will be followed by the usual public announcements and hopefully a quiz and raffle will take place.

CYCLING ROUND THE WORLD: As Charlie Pick from the local village store set off on his trip round the world in aid of Motor Neurone Disease further support has emerged from the village. Alison Hochstetter of Sutton Lane is also raising money for the Motor Neurone Disease Association through a Ball at Ye Olde Bell on Sunday 3rd May at £50.00 per person – see posters on notice boards at the Village Hall and the notice board by Picks Store.

VILLAGE HALL COMMITTEE: The village hall committee held their scheduled meeting on Wednesday 25th February at the usual time of 7:30pm in the Village Hall and a full report will follow.
WOMEN’S INSTITUTE: The W I ladies met on Wednesday evening, 18th February in the Village Hall at the usual time of 7:15pm. This was the groups’ AGM and buffet when a ballot for committee, financial report and annual report takes place. This was overseen by Ann Marie Morley (Federation Rep).
The election of committee members was on the agenda and as no nominations were forthcoming from the floor the present committee, who had declared their intention to stand again if required, were elected en-bloc. Mrs Jackie Payne agreed to be President for a further 12 months.
The next meeting of the group will be on Wednesday 18th March at the usual time of 7:15pm. Members old and new always welcome.
