ST.BARTHOLOMEW’S CHURCH: At the local church on Sunday 19th July a “Family Service” will take place. Please come along and bring the family!

The service starts at 9:30am and everyone is welcome.

CLASSIC CAR SHOW : The annual Sutton Classic Car Show will be held on Sunday 19th July at the Gate Inn, Sutton.

GREAT SUTTON SHOW: The ‘Great Sutton Show’ is this coming Sunday 19th July at the Sutton Church of England School on Portland Place from 10:00am to 3:00pm.

It is a ‘fun day for all the family’ including bouncy castle, mini fun fair, craft stalls and licensed bar and there is even a ‘Fun Dog Show’ for all the residents with dogs.

A family fun day, one not to be missed.

MAJOR HIGHWAY MAINTENANCE WORKS: Notts County Council intend to carry out essential highway maintenance works on Town Street and Sutton lane in the village. The limits of this work are from outside 28 Sutton Lane to just north of St. Bartholomew’s Court a total distance of approximately 900m.

These works are scheduled to start on Thursday 23rd July 2015 with work planned for up to 8 days. The working hours will be 07:30 until 17:30.

PICKS GENERAL STORE: It is intended that the village shop will close during the forthcoming road works programme affecting Town Street and Sutton Lane.

Details are as follows:

  • Thursday 23rd and Friday 24th – closed
  • Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th – open
  • Monday 27th until Friday 31st – closed
  • Saturday 1st August – open as usual

If the road works finish earlier than planned then the shop will open at the earliest opportunity!

PARISH COUNCIL: The Parish Council held their monthly meeting on Wednesday 8th July in the Village Hall at the usual time of 7:00pm.

Council chairman Ron Beare presided over seven councillors and 3 members of the public. County Councillor Liz Yates and District Councillor Tracey Taylor were in attendance. A representative from Bassetlaw District Council addressed the gathering on the subject of dog fouling in the rural communities and outlined steps being taken to curtail this activity now re-classified as anti-social behaviour and actions being taken when irresponsible owners are identified.

COFFEE MORNING: The coffee morning held in the village hall on Saturday 11th July from 10:00am to 12:00noon was a bit quieter than usual, with many of the regulars either away during the event or involved with prior engagements.

The usual hosts Brian and Kathryn Seddons were on hand to offer coffee, cake, tea and biscuits, as those present caught up on all the latest news from in and around the area.
