
ST.BARTHOLOMEW’S CHURCH: On Sunday 2nd August, “Morning Prayer” will be held at the local church.
The service starts at 9:30am and everyone is welcome.
MAJOR HIGHWAY MAINTENANCE WORKS: Work continues on Sutton Lane and Town Street and if proposed schedules are met the re-surfacing works should be completed late Friday afternoon. The road will then be open as normal.
PICKS GENERAL STORE: The local store has been closed on week-days during the recent resurfacing works taking place in the village. On completion of the works, it is hope that the premises will be open as usual from Saturday 1st August.
GATE INN: On Friday 31st July at the local hostelry solo guitar vocalist Tom Holland will be entertaining. The vocalist has built up quite a following and will perform from approximately 8:30pm onward.
The recent charity event held at the Gate, the Classic car show was deemed a great success and raised the sum of £300, after a busy trading session the pub contributed another £50 making a grand total of £350 destined for Notts/Lincs Air ambulance. Thanks go to all concerned.
SUTTON GARDENING CLUB: Local residents will be receiving details through their letter boxes in the next few days information of the Sutton cum Lound garden and produce show scheduled to take place on Saturday 12th September 2015.
The leaflet is to inform villagers of the different classes and categories available on the Day.
SUTTON AND BARNBY MOOR W.I.: Last week-end, 24th to 26th July two members of the local WI attended the Notts. Women’s Institute Federation residential weekend visit held at Denman College Oxford. The members were invited to join their peers for a week-end of fun, education and celebration, where a total of seven courses on offer were run for their enjoyment, enabling those in attendance to try their hand at a new skill, or develop one they already have. The local members chose courses based on flower arranging, entitled Flowers for the Home and Machine Embroidery.
Val Moore and Mavis Bradley were the members who attended and appeared to enjoy the event, returning home with items created during the visit.
