PARISH COUNCIL: Sutton Parish Council met on Wednesday 9th September in the village hall at the usual time of 7:00pm.  Council Chairman Ron Beare was on hand to welcome councillors, with three members of the public present and District Councillor Tracey Taylor in attendance, Clerk to the council Nigel Johnson was there to record the proceedings. Area beat manager PC 3258 Jason Fellows was also present on the night.

Various items came under discussion, including: finances and planning.

A section of unfenced main East coast railway line near to Daneshill lakes was mentioned and from the floor a member of the public thanked council for their swift efforts in bringing this matter to the attention of Network Rail before a serious incident occurs.

SUTTON FLOWER AND PRODUCE SHOW: The fourth Annual Flower and Produce Show on the 12th September was a real success. Everyone agreed it was a great fun day. The summer weather clearly had a big effect with lots of high quality runner beans, onions, beetroot and tomatoes but surprisingly very few carrots. There was obviously a lot of jam & chutney making, and lots of baking entries too. The photography categories were significantly down on all previous years – is digital photography losing its appeal? – Not as far as the children are concerned because this was their most popular category. Judging was a real challenge and all but the painting and photography sections had a marking scheme to aid the judges.
