ST.BARTHOLOMEW’S CHURCH: With Christmas almost here, the festive celebrations begin with the “Crib Service” which will take place on Thursday 24th December in church at 6:00pm. Parishioners are invite to assemble in church again later in the evening at 11:30pm in preparation for the “Midnight Mass”.
Come along and celebrate with family and friends. On Christmas Day “Holy Communion” will take place at the earlier time of 9:00am.
A warm welcome awaits you and yours in church on Thursday evening and at any service you chose to attend.
SUTTON SPOTLIGHT: The Sutton Spotlight should be arriving on your doormat any day soon. Funded by Sutton cum Lound Parish Council and produced by a group of volunteers, this ever popular publication contains news and views from in and around the area, and should hopefully contain something for everyone.
A social calendar is always included as well as a directory of contacts and useful telephone numbers, a very handy document to keep by you telephone.

WOMEN’S INSTITUTE: The local branch of the WI met as scheduled on Wednesday 16th December in the Village Hall at the usual time of 7:15pm for their Christmas Party. A good attendance with everyone in festive spirit ready for the fun and games arranged for the night. These included a secret Santa event where members draw for the presents wrapped and ready for selection. In another game reminiscent of the old TV game “Beat the Clock”. Members formed teams of three and attempted to construct a “Gingerbread House” against the clock! There were winners in the end, but the quality of the end products were so good everyone was a winner on the night. Well done ladies!!
In another event, a competition for the best Xmas table decoration was won by member Eileen Bird from Barnby Moor. Competition judge for the evening was Fred Payne. The usual raffle was held and member Sybil gave the vote of thanks to the committee for organising the evening and for all their hard work throughout the year.
The next meeting of the group will be in the New Year, 20th January 2016 to be exact in Sutton Village Hall at the usual starting time of 7:15pm. This will be member’s night and a White Elephant Stall will operate. Members old and new always welcome. Further details available from Secretary Michelle Jaafar on (01777) 818 092.
SUTTON GARDENING CLUB: Another successful year for the gardening club, with membership on the increase at each meeting, which is the first Tuesday of the month. The first meeting of the New Year will be on Tuesday 5th January 2016 at the Gate Inn at 7:15pm. This will be gardening club quiz night with a £1.00 entry fee for the quiz with prizes for the winners.
