WOMEN’S INSTITUTE: The ladies met as scheduled on Wednesday 16th March in Sutton Village Hall at the usual time of 7:15pm. This meeting was the group’s AGM and on the night the election of committee took place.
The evening started off in the usual way with the singing of Jerusalem. President Jackie Payne welcomed members and announced that this was the last time as president as she was standing down after 10 plus years and not seeking re-election.
Minutes of the last meeting were given out and approved along with any matters arising from
same, and any correspondence received. The annual reports were given by the Secretary, Treasurer and President. The President then went on to thank Mavis Bradley, who was standing down from the committee after serving for several years (a card and thank you gift was presented). Chris Abbott then presented the outgoing President with a Garden Centre Voucher and a card. Ann Sneath (Trustee) from County office was in attendance to oversee the election of the new committee.
The elected officers of the group are now as follows:
- President: Ann Fraser
- Secretary: Michelle Jaafar
- Treasurer: Christine Abbott
- supported by a committee of seven members
On conclusion of the official business, the guest speaker was introduced as Jenny Blizard, a Chartered Physiotherapist who addressed the ladies with a Women’s Health Talk which covered a wide and varied range of topics, including Pelvic Floor Health. This was a very enjoyable and informative talk and held the group’s attention throughout!
At the end of the evening former President Jackie Payne gave the customary vote of thanks
and the buffet supper was provided on this occasion by the committee members.
