MYSTERY UNSOLVED?: Villagers are concerned that the winner of the design competition for the paddock opposite the Gate Inn wishes to remain anonymous! Many of them are very interested to know who it is and are mystified as to why the winners wish to remain unknown. It would appear to defeat the object of the exercise.

COFFEE MORNING: Another good turnout at this very popular event, the first session of the year, with approximately forty visitors present on the day (Saturday 9th).

Regular hosts, Brian and Kathryn Seddons, were soon back in action and welcoming friends old and new whilst serving teas and coffees not forgetting delicious homemade cake. During the session a few caravanners called in to sample the delights placed before them.

Village stalwart David Mowthorpe was on hand to inform people about the book on the History of Sutton and take orders for the same if required. Villagers and friends socialised for most of the morning catching up on all the local news and views from in and around the area, all done in convivial company.

MEET THE NEIGHBOURS: The new chef, at the Gate Inn, Kieron, came up trumps with his sausage and mash with lovely gravy and two vegetable bowls (cabbage, carrots and parsnips) when the Neighbours group came for dinner. A hearty meal enjoyed by all, followed by tea and coffee.

All the latest news and views from in and around the village was aired and the usual raffle took place. Visitors then socialised for the afternoon.

The next event scheduled for the neighbours is on Tuesday 10th May and the menu has been confirmed as Chicken & Ham Pie with puff pastry, bowls of seasonal vegetables, pan gravy and mash.
