QUEENS BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS: The Queen’s Birthday was celebrated in great style here in the village. The Village Hall and the surrounding area was tastefully decorated with flags and bunting which set the scene for the day. Sutton bell ringers started the day off by ringing the chimes for the Queen’s birthday at approximately 11:00am.

The circus proved a big attraction with the younger generation trying their hand at Stilt walking / spinning plates and juggling among other things. Cream teas were well received as well as the royal sandwiches and pork pies and other foodstuffs available on the day. Bouncy castle proved as popular as ever for a variety of age groups. When it came to choosing a winner in the Kings and Queen’s Crown competition the final decision was difficult but it was decided that Jack Graham was the Royal Ruler for the day. Congratulations Jack – Well Done!!

As the sun continued to shine, it was time for Pimms, the school choir did their bit on the day and other activities took place during the afternoon. Cue the music!! Local Rock’n’Blues band Catch 23 took to the stage and soon had the crowd rocking. Playing many favourites, including music from Fleetwood Mac, Bryan Adams, Chris Rea amongst many others, with the crowd joining in at various stages.

Favourable reports have been voiced throughout the village about the day as a whole and how well it was organised and enjoyed by most in attendance. The event itself was collated by village resident Paula Graham and the team of willing volunteers, and was sponsored by Sutton Parish Council.

Thanks to all who helped in anyway to support another event in the rural community.

QUIZ NIGHT: There was a very lively atmosphere at the Gate Inn on Sunday Night to face an exceedingly challenging Quiz set by Chris Sulley.
