Last Thursday evening, 12th January, a group of villagers numbering about fifty in total converged on the local hostelry, every publicans dream to have such a crowd present! Unfortunately on this occasion the bar was closed, because as from Friday 6th January May Public Houses had ceased to trade from the venue, so a dry night lay ahead!
The reason for the gathering was to ascertain whether villagers themselves wanted a Public House to continue trading in the village. Comments from those present, and judging by the numbers present, it seemed the answer was a resounding yes!
Head Chef, Kieran Mitchell, the existing Front-of-house Manager, Hayley Troop and Paula Graham, the Finance manager have decided to take on the venue personally, trading as MGM (Mitchell Graham Management Ltd). With local support they hope to retain the local venue, the Gate Inn, make it a success for many years to come and prevent the loss of another valuable asset in the village.
The meeting commenced with a welcome from the management team and their accountant. After reading a prepared statement the team asked for anybody present who was prepared to be a potential investor in a Seed Enterprise Investment Scheme (SEIS); tax relief is available to individuals who subscribe in a company who meets SEIS requirements. All capital raised by the purchase of shares will be invested in the proposed venture of Mitchell and Graham Management Ltd (company number 10477249).
Investments are to commence at £250.00, or multiples thereof.
Questions from the floor were varied and numerous, with each being answered honestly and sincerely and to the satisfaction of most of those present.
If sufficient investments are found, The Gate Inn, Sutton Cum Lound will be reopening on Friday 27th January under Mitchell & Graham Management Ltd. The deadline for investments is 8:00pm on Friday the 20th January when a decision will be made whether to re-open the pub, or not, based on the total investment received.
Time is of the essence so, if you would like to invest in this venture, or need more information, please contact Paula Graham as quickly as possible.
