ST.BARTHOLOMEW’S CHURCH: “Songs of Praise” will take place at the local church on Sunday 22nd January.
The service starts at 9:30am and everyone is welcome.
DEFIBRILLATOR: The Parish Council is organising a training session to cover CPR and the use of a defibrillator. If you would like to participate then please phone the clerk on (01777) 948 320 or alternatively email clerk@suttoncumlound.net
The training is free and will be at the Village Hall. Places are limited and it would help when expressing your interest if you could indicate whether you would prefer a day or an evening session.
Some villagers have already come forward and are on the list. If you are interested please contact the clerk as soon as possible. The first session is scheduled to start on Thursday 19th January at the Village Hall at 7:00pm
SPEED WATCH: The Speed Watch operation being run by the Parish Council in conjunction with the local Police is all ready to go live. A delay occurred earlier in the programme but this has now been overcome. A shortage of volunteers has arisen as previous volunteers plans have changed over the delay period. So if you or anyone you know can help out please get in touch with clerk to the Parish Council Nigel Johnson on (01777) 948 320.
DATE FOR YOUR DIARY: A Ceilidh has been organised at Barnby Moor Village Hall on Saturday 28th January from 7:30pm with dancing to The Bracken Rigg Dance Band. Tickets are £10.00 each to include pie and peas. Bring our own alcohol and glasses. Tea and coffee available.

MOBILE LIBRARY: The dates for the Mobile Library visits to the village have been arranged and are as follows:
The van will visit the village on the 4th Monday of each month, commencing Monday 30th January and will stop at the following locations:
- Sutton cross roads (9:40am)
- 46 Station Road (10:00am)
- 22 Station Road (10:10am)
- Town Street (10:25am)
- Portland Meadows (10:45am)
- Portland Place Garages (10:55am)
Visiting days will be notified each month.
PARISH COUNCIL: The Council met as scheduled in the Village Hall on Wednesday 11th January at the usual time of 7:00pm with chair Angela close presiding. Six councillors were present on the night with apologies received for those unavailable. Clerk Nigel Johnson was on hand to record the event, along with members of the public.
County Councillor Liz Yates was present for help and advice if required.
Various topics came up for discussion on the night, with most of the time being taken up with planning applications. These were dealt with in due course, with one application attracting 57 objections in writing. The council will meet next month as usual on the second Wednesday (8th February )in the Village Hall at the normal starting time of 7:00pm.

WALKING BROCHURE: A guide to paths and walkways around the village of Sutton should have been received by most households in the village over the last week or so. The information contained within should benefit most people in the village, whether they are walkers, joggers, dog lovers or people who just like a casual stroll.
