Called after the month it was started (April), details and history of the club were highlighted in the last edition of the Sutton Spotlight.

The club has been run for the last 30 years by local volunteer Carole Head from Portland Meadows who donates most of her spare time and energy in running these bi-weekly events (assisted by her husband Jim).

The club has celebrated reaching this milestone by having days out at various eateries, much to the enjoyment of its members. A few vacancies exist within the club.

Details of the club and its activities are available from group leader Carole Head on Retford (01777) 705 077.

MEET THE NEIGHBOURS: When the neighbours met on Wednesday 12th April at the Gate Inn a group of approximately 40 people joined together for a communal lunch. A slightly different format on this occasion as organiser Joan Reiter asked the gathering to welcome County Councillor Liz Yates to the event. Liz Yates, accompanied by her husband Terry on this occasion, has been an avid supporter of the group since its inception and has attended most of the meetings held during that period. A presentation was made along with good wishes for the future as she retires from the post she has held for many years. Those present also showed their appreciation for the input received from their local councillor, not only for the group but for the village as a whole. After the meal and desert members tried their hand at a film quiz, any formal messages were given out and the usual raffle was drawn. An enjoyable social event.

SUTTON PARISH COUNCIL: The council held its monthly meeting on Wednesday 12th April at 7:00pm in the Village Hall. County Councillor Liz Yates addressed the council for the last time as she retires from council duties at the end of the month having represented Sutton Ward for the last fourteen years at District as well as County level. The Chair of Parish Council Angela Close thanked Liz for her support over the period and her efforts on behalf of the council and the village itself.
