St Bartholomew’s Church, Sutton cum Lound. A New Group of Parishes to be formed.
For the last seven years the 27 Parishes of the Retford Area have worked together in the Retford Area Team Ministry. Eighteen months ago a Review of the Parishes in the Team began. This was to consider how best to serve all the people living in the Area and care for the Churches.
It is envisaged that the Team Ministry will be reconfigured and smaller groups of churches formed into new benefices.
There will be three Rural Groups of 7 or 8 Parishes each with their own Full-time Vicar and the Town Churches will be reorganised.
All Hallows, Ordsall and St Bartholomew’s, Sutton cum Lound share a Vicar, at the moment. This is Reverend Sue Caddy. From July 2018, St Bartholomew’s and All Hallows will move into separate working groups.
St Bartholomew’s will be joining with; Babworth with Ranby, Scofton with Osberton, Elkesley, Eaton and Gamston, Bothamsall and West Drayton. A new Vicar is being sought to serve this group of parishes.
All Hallows will join with St Michael’s, West Retford to become one Parish. Reverend Sue Caddy will be the Vicar of this new Parish.
Please pray the people of St Bartholomew’s, the Parishes in the new group and for everyone in the Retford Area as we embark on these new relationships.
Reverend Sue Caddy will honour any Baptism and Wedding arrangements up to the 4th August 2018. Her responsibilities as a School Governor will end at that time. Reverend Sue’s last Service at St Bartholomew’s will be Sunday, 8th July at 9:30am.
