CHURCH MATTERS

Thanks to everyone who gave so generously of tombola prizesand helped in anyway at the opening of Sutton Meadows on Sunday 16th June. The proceeds of the Tombola stall raised the sum of £90 toward the toilet and kitchen fund. Thanks to all concerned!

YET AGAIN

Yes it’s happening again, much to the disgust of villagers and genuine and responsible dog owners/lovers. People in charge of dogs ignoring the plentiful warning signs/ and doggy bins provided and leaving their dogs droppings behind. With one successful prosecution carried out and another pending villagers are asked to report any incidents noted and details to Bassetlaw District Council for their perusal and any action they may wish to take. Don’t blame the dogs, blame the irresponsible owners!!

NETWORKRAIL

Essential workings are to be undertaken by Networkrail on or near the level crossing on Station Road in the village. The work entails Rail Depth Inspections. The workforce will be on site from 1:30am on Wednesday 3rd July 2019 until 5:15am on Thursday 4th 2019. The aforementioned workings will necessitate the closure of the road during these times. Diversion signs will be in place to assist motorists. Railtrack apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused during these times.

MEET THE NEIGHBOURS

When the neighbours group met on Wednesday 19th June, it was another good turnout despite people being away on holiday and other prior commitments! A group of 40 people made the effort and were served an excellent meal by organiser Joan Reiter and her willing band of helpers! Excellent cuisine prepared by local chef and caterer Nigel Bower again to a very high standard.

The usual quiz took place again with surprising results with a very close finish. The raffle always commands a lot of attention and was conducted by draw-master Fred Payne with a bit of banter and humour thrown in for good measure! A surprise guest joined the diners on the day, when Jonathan Beardsall made an appearance to escort his mother Jean to the event. Jonathon, a hatter from North Yorkshire was happy as two of his creations were seen on TV as Royal Ascot got underway. Two creations on spotted the day, with more to follow on ladies day, and with all the royals present. Well done Jonathon! It all happens at Sutton cum Lound, especially at Meet the Neighbours.
