ST BARTHOLOMEWS’ CHURCH
On Sunday 21st July, “A Family Service” will take place. The service will start at the usual time of 9:15am and everyone is welcome. Please come along and bring the family!
SUTTON WARD
District Councillor for the Ward Rob Boeuf held his surgery at Sutton Village Hall on Wednesday evening, 10th July, from 6:00pm to 7:00pm. Constituents can either turn up on the evening or telephone for an appointment. The surgeries will be held on a monthly basis, with a different ward venue each time. Dates and times will be notified in due course.
TINKER LANE UPDATE
Restoration To Begin. We learnt today that iGas have informed NCC that they are about to move into the restoration phase at Tinker Lane. Images of the restoration will be provided throughout the programme of works.
PARISH LUNCHES
Please note that the Parish Lunch for July will take place on Friday 19th at the Gate Inn at 12:00noon. You are invited to join us for good food and conversation. NB: a small contribution is made to the current building fund after each lunch session.

SUTTON-CUM-LOUND C OF E SCHOOL
The local school will be holding their School Summer Fair on Sunday 21st July 2019 from 11:00am to 3:00pm. Villagers, parents and friends are invited to join them. A great variety of stalls and crafts will be available on the day, Including a selection of food outlets, refreshments, prosecco and beer, inflatables, raffles and lots more! A special dance performance from De Burnays Dance Centre.

ROAD WORKS
Please be aware that roadworks are planned for Lound Low Road commencing on Monday 22nd July to Wednesday 24th July. This is likely to cause all sorts of possible delays and obstructions due to road closures.
GARDENING CLUB
Please note that there is no meeting of the club for the month of August at Barnby Moor village hall On the due date the club will be having an “away day” for which an outing to Harlow Car has been arranged. The trip to Harlow Carr-a 29 seater coach has now been booked and confirmed for Tuesday 6th August 2019, and Harlow Carr’s meet and greet team know to expect us on that day. 15 members have said they will come definitely with a possible 23 members wishing to attend (hence the size of coach booked). There is no cost to members for this trip (apart from your own foods/refreshments on the day). There is a Betty’s café on site and gift shops in addition to the gardens.
Please can you confirm to the chair Jenny Bailey whether you will be going on the trip. The coach will leave Kettlewells at 9:00am sharp on 6th August. There is car parking on site so please ensure you arrive at 8:45am. The address for parking is: Grove Street Retford DN22 6LA. Those in need of a lift / car-share please let the chair know ASAP.

The neighbours group met on Wednesday 17th July Joan Reiter and her team were on hand to welcome diners to the event. Further details to follow.
SUTTON AND BARNBY MOOR W.I.
When the ladies of the local Women’s Institute held their meeting at 7:15pm on Wednesday 17th July 2019 in Sutton Village Hall, the speaker was Steve Short who told the membership the story of Jasper Maskelyne, the War Magician. A report will follow when to hand.
MOBILE LIBRARY VAN
The library van visited the village on Monday 15th July 2019 stopping at the usual places.
CHURCH SERVICE
On Sunday 14th July (4th Sunday after Tritnity) “Holy Communion” was held at St. Bartholomew’s Church at 9:15am. The celebrant on this occasion was the Revd. Dick Lewis. Readings on the day were carried out by Monica Hockenhull and Joan Herrington. Intercessions: Dylan Boddy. Organist: Geof Webb.
PARISH COUNCIL
Sutton Parish Council met in the village hall on Wednesday 17th July as scheduled with councillor Paula Graham in the chair. Six councillors present on the night with apologies tendered from those unable to attend. County Councillor Tracey Taylor and District Councillor Rob Boeuf were present on the night for help and advice if required. Clerk to the council Nigel Johnson was on hand to record the event along with three members of the public in attendance.
Various issues were discussed during the evening including: Planning x2, Fencing on Lound Low Road, damaged wall on Town street near bus shelter / Portland place green, referred back to Notts County Council. Other items mentioned were large vehicles of excessive weight limits passing through the village, finances and correspondence.
QUIZ NIGHT
The quiz continues to take place in the Village Hall every Sunday night, £1.00 entry per person which is paid back as prize money! The bigger the crowd – the bigger the prize! New contestants always welcome. 8:00pm start and bar open.
