ST. BARTHOLOMEW’S CHURCH

Please note that the service on Sunday 10th November is REMEMBRANCE SUNDAY and the service commences at the later time of 10:15am in order to observe the two minutes silence at 11:00am. You are invited to come along and give thanks, “as we remember them”.

LEVEL CROSSING NIGHT CLOSURES

Please be aware that nightly closures are planned for the Station Road Level Crossing, Sutton commencing on Sunday 3rd November to Thursday 7th November 2019. See here for details of the proposed Station Road closures

To coincide with these, there also will be nightly closures on the Sutton Lane crossing at Babworth. See here for details of the proposed Sutton Lane closures

PARISH COUNCIL MEETING

The next meeting of the council will take place on Wednesday 13th November in the Village Hall at the usual time of 7:00pm. You are invited to join them.

GARDENING CLUB

The meeting of the gardening club took place on Tuesday 5th November in Barnby Moor village hall at the usual time of 7:15pm. On this occasion Corin Tomlinson addressed the group on the subject of growing and care of Bonsai. A report will follow when available. New members and visitors are always welcome, please contact Jenny Bailey (01777) 708 155 for further information.

CHURCH SERVICE

“A service for “All Saints Day” took place at the local church on Sunday 3rd November. The service commenced at the usual time of 9:15am and the officiant on this occasion was Worship Leader Janet Webb. First readings were by Monica Hockenhull. Readings from the Gospel:Luke 6   Verses 20 – 31 were performed by Rosemary Woodgate. Prayers were led by Janet Webb – Organist:Geof Webb.

QUIZ NIGHT

The quiz continues to take place in the Village Hall every Sunday night, £1.00 entry per person which is paid back as prize money! The bigger the crowd – the bigger the prize! New contestants always welcome. Following the quiz “Play your cards right” – Cash Prize! Can you beat the local teams? Come along and try. 8:00pm start and bar open.

We also have the Sutton Spotlight, which goes out to every house in the village on a quarterly (ish) basis. Space is sometimes limited, so try to get your entry in early.

We’re also lucky to have a village Journalist who collates news and updates for the Retford Times on a weekly basis. Get your copy in on Monday morning for the Thursday issue.

All our website updates are also sent down the village “X formerly Twitter” feed, @SuttonCumLound. So, follow us there for these and other items in and around our area.
