GARDENING CLUB
Will villagers please note the gardening Club donated a winter flowering honeysuckle to the community meadow in Sutton-cum-Lound. We have had a brass plaque made and there will be a small ceremony on 2/11/19 at 11am where you can see the tree and plaque in the meadow if you wish to come along. The WI will also be there doing the same with their donated tree. There will be refreshments afterwards in the Church. The meadow is open Fridays, Sundays and Mondays during daylight hours so you can always pop along and see the tree and plaque anytime on those days if you cannot attend the ceremony.
The next meeting of the gardening club will take place on Tuesday 5th November in Barnby Moor village hall at the usual time of 7:15pm. On this occasion Corin Tomlinson will address the group on the subject of growing and care of Bonsai.
New members and visitors are always welcome, please contact Jenny Bailey (01777) 708 155 for further information.
CHURCH SERVICE
On Sunday 27th October, the last Sunday after Trinity, the service at the local church was one of “Worship for All”. The service commenced at the usual time of 9:15am and the officiant on this occasion was lay reader Joan Herrington ably assisted by Worship Leader Janet Webb. Gospel readings: Luke 18: verses 9 – 14 were read by Jack Sanderson. A reasonable attendance for the time of year and the congregation was in good voice as the chosen hymns were well known and inspiring and jolly and sung with feeling by those present! Church Warden Dylan Boddy during information notices given out, thanked member Roger Bird, for his outstanding efforts in conjunction with the Lions Clubs in the clearing, preparing and the planting of a great number of daffodil bulbs donated by both Retford Lions and North Notts Lions. Something for worshippers to look forward to next spring.
