
ST. BARTHOLOMEW’S CHURCH
The Holy Family continue their journey to Bethlehem. This week they have been given hospitality at the Gate Inn, Sutton, and then with people in the Parish, moving each day. They will eventually arrive at St. Bartholomew’s Church on Sunday 22nd December at 9:15am. and will be welcomed to a special service called Los Posadas. (shelter for the holy family), ready for their final resting place in the stable on Christmas Eve.at the Crib service. Mulled Wine Mince Pies will be available and everybody is welcome.
The service on Sunday 22nd December, and the Christmas events are as follows:
- Sunday 22nd December: “Shelter for the Holy Family”
- Tuesday 24th December: “Crib Service” at 6:15pm
- Wednesday 25th December: “Holy Communion” will take place at the usual time of 9:15am
Please come along to any or all of the above services and bring the children! Everybody welcome.

GARDENING CLUB
After a very exciting and successful year, with a great selection of speakers, mainly due to the efforts of the Chair person and committee, the Sutton and Barnby Moor Club will hold their next meeting early in January, when a new programme will be available for members perusal.

PARISH COUNCIL
The next council meeting has been scheduled for Wednesday 8th January 2020 and you are invited to attend.
SUTTON APRIL CLUB
The April club continue to meet every two weeks in the village and full details are available from Group Leader and organizer Carole Head on (01777) 705 077.
CHURCH SERVICE
The service on Sunday 15th December, the third Sunday in Advent, was a service of Lessons and Carols. The officiant on this occasion was Lay Reader Joan Herrington.
PARISH COUNCIL MEETING
The meeting of the Parish Council took place on Wednesday 4th December in the Village Hall, a week earlier than usual in order to avoid prior engagements in run the up to the Christmas, and the following items came under discussion:
- Flooding possibilities in the village
- Planning
- Church clock and repair of same
- … plus a few more local issues that were voiced on the night
The next council meeting has been scheduled for Wednesday 8th January 2020 and you are invited to attend.
QUIZ NIGHT
The quiz continues to take place in the Village Hall every Sunday night, £1.00 entry per person which is paid back as prize money! The bigger the crowd – the bigger the prize! New contestants always welcome. Following the quiz “Play your cards right” – Cash Prize! Can you beat the local teams? Come along and try. 8:00pm start and bar open.

We also have the Sutton Spotlight, which goes out to every house in the village on a quarterly (ish) basis. Space is sometimes limited, so try to get your entry in early.
We’re also lucky to have a village Journalist who collates news and updates for the Retford Times on a weekly basis. Get your copy in on Monday morning for the Thursday issue.
