Local man Alan Petrie (71 years old) is planning to walk 50 miles or more in North Somerset for five days in early September. Monies raised from the event is destined for Cancer Research UK. Alan, who has lived in Sutton for 18 years, has a Just Giving page, “Alans walk for cancer”, on Facebook and is looking for support for his charitable event and a very worthwhile cause. Villagers wish him well with his quest in September.
St Bartholomew’s Church
Church Service
“Songs of Praise – Congregation Favourites” was held at the local church on Sunday 14th August at the usual time of 9:30am. This service would appear to be most popular amongst the worshippers, apart from the service where Holy Communion is offered. The service was conducted on this occasion by Lay Minister/Reader Joan Herrington. Gospel Readings: Luke 12 – 49-56. Prayers: Janet Webb. Organist: Geoff Webb.
On Sunday 21st August, the 10th Sunday of Trinity, the service will be “Worship for All”. You are invited to come along and join in, everybody welcome.
Toilet and Kitchen Update
The church is moving ever closer to raising the money needed for the installation of a toilet and kitchen to make the building more useful and inclusive for community events. So far, because of people’s generosity, £45,000 has been raised towards the target. Further fundraising activities are being planned as well as the church seeking funding from grants.
A special Just Giving site has been set up for anyone wishing to make a personal donation towards the project. Every penny counts and the church appreciates all donations large or small. If you would like to donate you can either click on the link below, or make a donation by cheque posting it to us, or handing it to one of the Churchwardens.
